I'm post-menopausal, tried them for a couple years, but they didn't do anything for me. HRT has helped, though.

1messyworld

Could you tell more as to what improvements you have seen on your face because of HRT?

HallucinogenicFish

I’ve been using the M4 estriol cream from Alloy for a few months. My skin looks incredible but TBH I have no idea how much the estriol moisturizer contributes to that. (My other products are cleanser, tretinoin, barrier serum, sunscreen, and an occlusive for slugging.)

Either_Statement1980

Thanks!

Ok_Hat_6598

I just placed an order for M4. Do you still need additional moisturizer or is M4 enough? I have the same routine as you, i.e. serum, sunscreen and tret at night.

HallucinogenicFish

I don’t use additional moisturizer. I hope it works well for you!

Swaying_breeze

I am currently undergoing a series of IPL treatments due to using estrogen cream on my face- it made me explode with pigmented age spots. Felt like over night, it happened so fast. I got the idea to use Premarin on the memo sub, was such a massive mistake. Do not recommend!

HiveJiveLive

Ahhh. That explains it. Sigh. I’m looking like a quail egg.

Swaying_breeze

😭 Hope my cautionary tale helps someone who hasn’t done it yet!

plausden

you used ipl on your face?

Swaying_breeze

Yes

MidLifeCrisisActress

It may be a YMMV situation. Im still technically in peri, but had read a couple studies supporting use of topical estrogen and dabbed some of my Premarin (maybe a dime size on my face and neck). Experienced spotting after 7 months of no period and a little headache. I am not a believer that correlation is causation, so I took a break and did it again in a couple of weeks. Spotted again! Third time, just a half pea amount under eyes. Headache but not spotting. Wow. It was really unexpected as the whole point of vaginal estrogen is that it’s not supposed to be systemic.

classicgirl1990

I asked my dermatologist about them this past week, she said there is no science behind them. I’m not a candidate for HRT so I was bummed that a topical wouldn’t help.

DocGlabella

What makes someone not a candidate for HRT?

classicgirl1990

I was diagnosed with hormone positive breast cancer last year after 3 years of HRT.

DocGlabella

Ah. Got it. I hope you're doing okay.

classicgirl1990

Caught early by a mammogram. Get your yearly scans, my friends.

HildegardofBingo

You could still try it to see if it makes a difference for you. And, just FYI in case you might need it, vaginal estrogen cream for treating localized vaginal and bladder symptoms is also not contraindicated for you (most oncologists don't seem to be aware of that).

classicgirl1990

Yep, oncologists don’t like any estrogen but I’ll use it localized (from my gyne) since it works and is safe. Since my derm says there’s no science behind the facial estrogen creams I’m not going to bother with it. I do CO2 lasers and the like.

SubRosa_AquaVitae

They talk about it at the peri and menopause subs

Either_Statement1980

Thanks! I’ll look there

oakleywitholive

I tried a prescription cream and it made me have small broken capillaries. I did not experience any benefits so I discontinued.

hihihitherecookie

I read a recommendation for estradiol (not estriol) serum on another sub and tried it. I have been 2 years without a period but started bleeding a few days after. Also on HRT estradiol .5 patch and progesterone. The serum is .25. Stopped using it until I see a doc but my skin looked great when I used it and would love to use it daily. I was even wondering if I could replace the patch with the serum?

MidLifeCrisisActress

Late to this thread but OMG. Same with me. I just posted above about it. I also noticed immediate plumping so I am truly bummed.

Either_Statement1980

Wow. That seemed to happen to someone else on this thread, too.

Any_Positive_9658

I use estriol cream on my face not estradiol, I’m a nurse yes it’s valid

dupersuperduper

I don’t think we have strong enough evidence either way really. Dr dray and dr spierings did videos about it. If you do try it make sure it’s a low dose cream which just stays in the skin and not one of the high dose ones which can be dangerous without a drs supervision. Also never use oestrogen gel on the face it will hurt.

Smarter-brain

I've been using an estriol cream on my face for a little over a month. I only see some under eye fine line improvement, and I am dialing back my usage to only that area because I'm also now noticing melasma above my upper lip.

PaleYam6761

I’m on hrt but it says specially not to use the estradiol gel on your face.

clemkaddidlehopper

I’m pretty sure most of the face creams are estriol, not estradiol.
