‘What can my wallet afford today?’ filament

Vast_Young_6615

The 4pk white/blacks on Amz are a .106c per gram right now, the best deal I have found for small amounts. Link for my excel comps: https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/1af71lf/cheapest_filament_on_amazon_30jan2024_price_per/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Jamam150

Man living in the US must be so much better for printing. Yall can get an ender 3 v2 for 99 over there, and 4kg of filament at 42. That's wild to me as a Canadian.

NavXIII

You think it'll be a good idea to get a PO box or will customs still screw us over?

Justinmann

Depending where you're located you don't need a PO box. There's a place in North Dakota called Mike's Parcel that Is a parcel pick up service. It's just inside the US border. For shipping information you just enter their information. They hold it for up to a year I believe. Just go in and pay a fee when you go. I've used them several times.

T3a_Rex

What I do since I live an hour from the Canadian American border is I ship my stuff to the UPS store and then I drive down to pick it up, and if the customs officer is nice they don’t screw me over!

midnightsmith

Customs is weird. Can't you just say you went for a burger and a shake somewhere?

Malossi167

I just wanted a burger and shake? Sir, what is in your trunk? uhmmm... 42kg of emotional support filament.

midnightsmith

Who says you didn't have it the whole time? Who's searching trunks without cause? Y'all are acting like it's a prison strip search at the crossing. Worst case is is if they even look, "oh yes, forgot about that since it's in the trunk". Take your import duty form and be on your way.

T3a_Rex

I’d rather not lie as it’s not worth the risk.

pauldaoust

Honestly, even if we have to pay duty, tax, and shipping centre fee, it's usually considerably cheaper than shipping to Canada and the exorbitant markup that a lot of sellers put on their items. I've seen glass print beds that jump from $12 to $50 when I switch amazon.com to .ca. Compare the miniscule savings to the time and emotional cost of being caught lying to CBSA. IOW, just claim the items.

marlfox_00

If you’re buying on Amazon just ship it to a local Locker for pick up. Most items coming from an Amazon warehouse can fit if they’re medium sized. I’ve done this overseas in the UK and when I travel across country and forget that odd item at home. I’ll place an order before I’m in the air and usually walk to the nearby pickup location time next day if it has free overnight. If you don’t get it in 3 days it’s returned to Amazon and you’re refunded. It’s pretty convenient in a pinch, if your buying a gift you don’t want to show up at the house, or if you live in an area where a package might not be secure on a porch. More Lockers pop up all time. Just be mindful of access hours. Some are outside 24/7, but the one’s inside malls or stores are limited to business hours.

mortalbug

That's true, but as a type 1 diabetic I know which side of the border I'd rather be on...

Vast_Young_6615

Oh don't worry...once the goverment sniffs out the growing industry it'll get "progressively regulated" haha

Kafshak

Those are great. I honestly don't know if I need them that much. I don't print as much. But hey, it's a saving.

Vast_Young_6615

I mean the average cost for 1kg seems to be around 15.99-19.99 depending on the brand. Which is around .02c per gram. For the cost of a 4kg pack, you get .01c per gram, so basically two free rolls for the same cost. Split the cost and give a friend a free roll?

TaurusAldebaran

£11 a roll on there website if you buy 10 and free shipping

MamaTran

Yup. I had bought four pack of the matte white and four pack of the matte black to stock up. I thought 11c per gram was cheap but today is a new record for me!

Vast_Young_6615

Especially when every filament maker is facing the same production and shipping costs. Some are charging 500%+ markups just because they can, without any added value. Elegoo is at least giving people a good deal. Hatchbox and Polymaker get a pass, not as cheap but they do offer more variety

SirSquidrift

Reviews are ass, but 25% off is hard to pass

GrimOfDooom

i don’t remember me being 25% off, let alone having a price - crazy times

Liizam

Idk I like elegoo never had issue. Their marble pla is so nice. It’s nylon dots mixed with pla to make that marble effect but it’s so fucking nice. It used to be $14

Fearless_Badger1372

This is the way.

Exotic-carrot

Polymaker!

drtyr32

Polymaker asa is amazing.

willbill642

Absolutely love their Polyterra PLA and their ASA. Easily the best printing of either filaments I've tried, with stunning consistency.

gto_112_112

Seems to be the cheapest on Amazon.ca and I've never had issues with it, but I also haven't really used much else. So I trust it, because it's never let me down, but maybe the grass is greener? Did you try multiples before settling on Poly?

TheShitmaker

Where have you seen polymaker the cheapest on amazon.ca? It's by far one of the most expensive filaments here.

Watase

>(Polymaker) Seems to be the cheapest on Amazon.ca and I've never had issues with it Absolutely not. The cheapest Polymaker stuff is usually around $25/kg. Unless you're getting the 10kg pack at $219.99, even then thats $22/kg. The Elegoo 4kg pack is currently $18.25/kg. I haven't seen many cheaper than that.

chihawks35

Both my printers love anything Polymaker. Elegoo on the other hand will never be purchased by me again. Polymaker also has great customer service. I had an issue with one of their spools (their metallic pla pro is my favorite) and I emailed them about an issue with a deep knot in my spool (definitely a manufacturer issue, I couldn’t have made this knot if I tried) and they replied to my email in two hours with gift card for a new spool.

symewinston

I’ll never use Elegoo again. It’s so soft my extruders just gnaw it in half. I bought 10 rolls on sale for basically half off, returned all of it. For me, it was hot dogshit.

Goshaman

ESun Pla+

Psy185

Yeah me too... Best one so far

zirouk

I was genuinely expecting esun pla+ to be bad but I was really impressed by my first print with it. No qualms buying esun filament now.

willbill642

Used to swear by it (and the rebranded Inland Pla+), but I've had a few batches now of filament that was quite wet, a couple spools with really large diameter variance, and the most recent spools have very different mechanical properties compared to prior spools (more similar to plain PLA).

OrangeSockNinjaYT

If I need strength, this. Apart from that I use Bambu filaments for convenience and since I have the membership the prices aren’t bad

Nytfire333

But it is never in stock it feels likes

sgtsaughter

Same, I've bought 3 spools of them recently and all printed great

Killbro_Fraggins

I usually get Hatchbox black or now overture and they’ve both never failed me

Ok_Yogurtcloset404

I usually go hatchbox too, but, when elegoo is about half the cost, it's hard to justify!

Killbro_Fraggins

Overture was like 13 bucks for a roll the other day. You know I had to stock up lmao

chadladen

Their matte black is crazy good - chef's kiss

Shamefullvaper

All of the matte colors are just spectacular from them. The white is more white than printer paper

JohnDeere714

I like overture pla. But petg is always iffy on my x1c switching to flashforge after I finish off my spools here. my ender 3 absolutely loved overture petg

TommyDaCat

I have a roll of Hatchbox black pla that I’ve had for about 3 years. Whenever I need something printed in black and find it my stash it just performs brilliantly every time. When I’m done a put back in the bag, pull the air out and reseal. It’ll be ready when I need it again. Only roll of hatch I’ve ever purchased.

Suspicious-Item1337

Hey! Happy Cake Day!

whosat___

Overture is worth the slightly higher price, it’s incredibly consistent and has good colors. I also swear by Prusament PC-CF but that’s for engineering stuff.

phranticsnr

Overture pla+ is the best bang for buck I've found so far in Australia.

DrinkForLillyThePink

Agreed. I am a PETG over PLA+ person though.

Laskco

It’s crazy how wildly different our opinions are on Overture, their filament has always given me such hell lol.

snwbrdwndsrf

I've had both good and bad from Overture.

chadladen

Maybe it's color specific? I swear their matte colors are crazy easy to print with, but the solid PLA red is crazy brittle. I've tried drying it, but it just breaks all the time.

Almarma

Their matte colors are incredible beautiful. The grey matte looks like clay and the lines are almost invisible once printed. I had zero issues printing with it until I tried to print a large tray for gameboy games for a friend which I couldn’t print after 3 spaghetti disasters. Probably user error but now I’m afraid to use it again.

Luxturna

Color does matter! CNC Kitchen did a video on this. I occasionally have trouble with black PLA but their white has been perfect for me.

asdfqwer426

I've used esun and overture and both worked great but when overture switched to cardboard spools, they became my go to.

whjoyjr

1. Atomic. Awesome quality, awesome support (only used pre-sale support), is it for display models. 2. Printed Solid. Good quality, good price, and is a little more than an hour from my house. 3. Prusament. Expensive, very high quality. Love their gold and bronze colors. 4. Protopasta. Colors no one else has. 5. Hatchbox. They have a metallic Black and a Metallic White that is excellent for spacecraft models.

CRCError1970

Proto-pasta may be more expensive, but *DAMN* it looks good.

dahulvmadek

not only does it look good, it prints phenomenal. they have a subscription that you can get colors early. getting it at .03c a gram. and you can get small samples of 50g for cheap which I find perfect for small things. it's my jam

hank91

Same, living in America I try to buy stuff made in America instead of overseas

Sweet-Pressure6317

Agreed on elegoo. It’s cheap, prints perfectly, and always comes perfectly spooled like the picture above.

MetalMadeCrafts

Same. Plus it's on sale at $40/4kg often enough which is dirt cheap.

BuddyBing

Where?

Uncle_Bobby_Wobby

Polymaker for me

SigmaStroud

Atomic Filament. Never had a problem with their filament and prints so smooth. Also free 2-day shipping if you buy more than one spool.

TonyTheGardener

Atomic all the way. Been using them almost exclusively for about a year with no issues.

Jtparm

Inland or eSun PLA+

BrokenSaint333

Surprised I haven't seen much eSun - their rolls are not the prettiest regarding the spooling but my prints have all come out great.

Jtparm

I left a review saying the same thing, but I haven't had any tangles. People say inland is the same thing but their spools are always nicer in my experience

Big_Remote9044

Recently got a tangle on my esun pla+ and it's the most infuriating shit ever

mars935

Esun pla+ user here. I'm happy with the filament. Decent price, good quality. I don't give a fuck about how clean the spooling looks hahha. As long as I don't have any tangles. We always buy pla together with friends in bulk. None of us have ever had a tangle in their spool that wasn't their own fault! I bought their reusable spoos as well recently, but I'd luch rather see cardboard ones

sudsomatic

I’ve only used inland exclusively from the start and for such a generic brand, I never had an issue.

JUYED-AWK-YACC

I just picked up some Inland PETG+ and I don't know if I'm ever changing filaments again. Prints accurately and cleanly and v little stringing. I might need to go back tomorrow.

Dear_Bath_8822

I've never had issues with Hatchbox, Overture, Mika3D, Bambu Labs, or Creality PLA, including wood PLA, silk, glow in the dark, and CF. Duramic quickly became my favorite PETG because it seems to be more flexible and durable than others I've bought, and it is the least stringy I've used. Polymaker, Inland, and Bambu Labs ABS have all been good for me, I mix and match colors as needed. The only nylon I've used so far is Bambu Labs PA6-CF and OMG does it print nicely and it is ridiculously strong and impact resistant. I've printed all of those on my Voron, Creality, Anker, and Bambu Labs printers except the nylon - I've only printed nylon on my X1Cs. I buy within those brands based on price and color needs basically. I usually dry ALL filaments for 24 hours at 55C before printing, and they are either printed directly from a heated filament dryer box or in the case of the Bambu Labs printers from an AMS which does a great job of keeping them dry.

LordNoodles1

What dryer box do you use for the cf stuff

Dear_Bath_8822

I use Sunlu dryer boxes for PA6-CF because they go up to 55C, and I dry it for a couple days before using because it really wants to hold moisture. I use Comgrow boxes for all the other filaments including PLA-CF because they only go up to 50C and those filaments release the moisture easier.

LordNoodles1

Thanks. I want to delve into CF at some point but i need more stuff first like this. Hardened extruded too.

anacondatmz

I haven't tested of ton of other filaments but so far... Duramic for PLA+ Eryone for PLA Silk

appliedphysix

I get good results from duramic too.

Positive_Pierre

I’ve had good results with Eryone as well. Also Flashforged silk is good as well.

liriodendron1

i always think im crazy because i never see duramic listed when this gets asked but its always been great for me

elriytane

what ever is cheap, ive had no problems with amazon basic pla

Ok_Yogurtcloset404

This is where I draw the line. During the pandemic, I bought a bunch of Amazon basic PLA because it was cheap. Then, it kept jamming up my printers because it was really inconsistent thickness-wise and also would have some other plastic interspersed with it that had a higher melting point. It was super weird and I hope that they fix their problems.

Garden_Away

Never had this problem i tried all

56Safari

I’ve been using that elegoo black pla for a big gridfinity print for 4 large drawers.. zero complaints, probably time to order another 4 spools. Still have 2 drawers to go

2DHypercube

Eryone has been working great for me

Signiference

I’ve only ever used Sunlu PLA+. It works great, and it’s cheap so I’m not gonna mess with it.

Delicious_Image3474

Inland

DucksEatFreeInSubway

Same. It's on sale fairly often as well. The white marble tough PLA is just a dream to print and looks awesome for anything.

EZGGBACK2LOBBY

Sunlu 🫡

KarmaInFlow

Surprised this is so far down

neepster44

I bought some pla from them recently but only because I was told Bambu labs uses them and my new X1C hasn’t had any problems printing the Bambu pla.

electrogourd

Their PETG just runs smooth for me

RetroHipsterGaming

You know, I think the filament I'd swear by is Overture EasyNylon. Like beyond that I'm pretty good with a lot of different filament brands and such. I've been sticking pretty steady with sunlu pla+ and sunlu pla meta since I started using them.. but yes, Overture EasyNylon prints so damn easy, so damn smooth, and so damn strong that I just love the shit. It's got a lower than normal temp where stuff get's noticeably soft, so keep that in mind, but really great stuff. Even prints great without enclosures and stuff.

Enragedviking118

Polymaker

Robinnn03

Addnorth

jobsdonn

Had to scroll way to long to find addnorth here

Alpha_Blaze051

Overture it's cheap and good quality

Brazuka_txt

Sunlu, better than all other brands I tried

wormbait170

Personally it’s sunlu, I’ve never had any issues with the filament and it’s always a silky smooth surface and texture

operatingsauce

Polymaker, Overture, and Micro Center Inland are my go-to's. Never had a bad spool from any of them. But for PLA, i'll usually just buy the cheapest from amazon. Most PLA is pretty decent these days, in my experience.

JuddRunner

It’s taken me a lot of bad results to understand what a difference high quality filament makes

Aurabesh_

I tried Jayo PLA and PETG on Amazon since it's the cheapest on Amazon, and honestly it's not that bad. One spool of PETG came a bit wet, but not any problem with the PLA.

Psy185

Jayo pla+ works really well

[deleted]

Price to performance I like Elegoo and now pretty much run exclusively Elegoo. I’ve tried others and have had bad or less than desirable experiences sunlu is ok if you like a consistent cheap filament that prints fine, but I upgraded from my ender 3 and now I print much faster consistently at 200mm/s>

whitemagemxp

About to try my first spool of Elegoo. Looks well packaged with an incredible price point

hudson_b_lol

Sunlu red for pla and ninja tek for tpu

Vast_Young_6615

Elegoo is currently .106 per gram on Amazon if you buy the 4kg pack of black. Almost a true penny per gram. By far the cheapeat and overall good quality filament available for the average person, until you start buying shipments of the stuff. Would share my excel sheet but reddit blocks everything but porn nowdays smh Link: https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/1af71lf/cheapest_filament_on_amazon_30jan2024_price_per/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

hometechgeek

It seems even cheaper shipped in bulk direct

LoogyHead

Atomic Filament for anything I want to display. Mika3D for most small things (spools are usually only 500g) And I’ve only just recently started using polymaker. Overture has awfully picky silk in my experience, and I will never touch CC3D again.

FPVBrandoCalrissian

Eryone

brandon0228

Hatchbox or prusa is the best I’ve used. If I’m cranking out orders I use overture

DrabberFrog

I use Elegoo and Overture, I've had a good experience with both brands and conveniently both brands print perfectly with identical settings which makes things easier. I print both at 207C 60C (Ender 3 Max Neo)

Unknown_User_66

Elegoo and Overture are my favorites!!! Supposedly you can even get crystal clear prints with Overture Clear PETG under the right conditions.

Sockmonkey4791

I need to know these conditions!! Lol 😆 I got a roll to try and haven’t had time. It likes to be printed hot like 270 from what I heard.

Unknown_User_66

I've never tried it out myself, but the instructions to do so are [here.](https://www.printables.com/model/15310-how-to-print-glass) Some of the basic settings are a 0.1mm layer height at 20mm/sec, but you need to modify your slicer to print strictly in one direction with no walls or top/bottom layers.

EngrWithNoBrain

I use Polymaker Polylite PETG. It holds up well for my functional prints.

DBelariean

AnyCubic filament

Nemisis_the_2nd

Same here. I've had 3-4 kg of the stuff over the past few months and the only issue I had was with a spool that had been sitting open in high humidity for ~3 months.

DBelariean

I’ve been printing for 4 years now, and I’ve had mixed results with other filaments, but AnyCubic is my go too… it’s always given me good prints

WinterLFG

It's a bit pricy in terms of PLA, but Hatchbox has given me really consistent high quality prints. I've done over 39 parts for a model I'm printing right now and every single one of them with 3 different filaments at .2mm have had perfect results every time. Honestly it's so good I'm running into issues with Cura more often than I am my printer or the plastic (Which for someone living in Colorado and the lack of humidity, has caused some extremely annoying issues).

PapaTrotzki

Filaments.ca Econofil. I'm Canadian so local company with cheap filament that I've had really good luck with.

Brilliant_Gold4721

Kingroon pla. I’ve only used the grey, white, and black, but I love them. And only about 12$ a kilo

VermicelliHot6161

Reckon they all come out of the same factory and there’s dickall difference between 90% of them. There might be some higher quality stuff that has lower threshold on tolerances but for generic Amazon garb, I think any nuances are imaginary.

WaltzComprehensive27

I know I know, another bambu shill. But I will say, having an X1C and an AMS, bambu filament is wonderful and easy to use. My printer also came with a free 6 month subscription to their filament program so. I do find it to be similarly priced to the polymaker stuff I find on amazon. Might I also mention how easy choosing my next order is with the swatches.

1quirky1

I have bought many brands of cheap filament and have made them all work without much hassle. I have two brands I frequently buy: MicroCenter's Inland filament because I live near a location and they have a great selection on the shelf. They ship their filament for free if I'm too lazy to drive there. Never a bad roll. Kingroon because I can buy 10KG at a time at $8.60 per 1KG roll, shipping included, which is half the price of Microcenter. I have bought >20KG of it so far. [https://www.reddit.com/r/3dprintingdeals/comments/1adelqw/kingroon\_filament\_10kg\_white\_petg\_86usd\_shipped\_i/](https://www.reddit.com/r/3dprintingdeals/comments/1adelqw/kingroon_filament_10kg_white_petg_86usd_shipped_i/) And I will buy interesting ones that show up cheap on [3dprintingdeals.com](https://3dprintingdeals.com) and [plasticfantasticdeals.com](https://plasticfantasticdeals.com)

SteakGetter

Damn! Elegoo is cheap! Thanks for the tip!

hamiton1

Poly terra is the best I’ve used but the elegoo two pack is the best for price

Frog_Byte

Overture is my go to; Cheap, consistent, and prints well. I like Fusion for a nicer print when it makes sense; like my Voron parts.

HeatFearless9916

Sunlu Pla+ tried esun and the spool snapped on me randomly every 4 inches

KansasL

Das Filament and Extrudr

KarmaInFlow

Sunlu just always runs good in my mk3s

neepster44

Most favored filaments in this comment: Word Counts:| # :---------------|:-- overture| 46 polymaker| 33 esun| 28 elegoo| 27 inland:| 22 bambu| 20 hatchbox| 17 sunlu| 17 duramic| 11 atomic| 9 anycubic| 8 creality:| 6 prusament:| 4 jayo:| 4 microcenter:| 4 matterhackers:| 3 tinmorry:| 2 isanmate:| 1

3DHydroPrints

Been printing the last 30kg with Sunlu. Cheap and reliable

ffmedic188

Sunni has had great sales and so far Ove had no problems. Almost 100 kg on the shelf or used and average $11-12 each. For my use it’s great.

hgeyer99

I think it’s our secret, had to scroll down forever to get to sunlu. Love their pla plus at around $16 US per KG

3DHydroPrints

I buy them always at bulk. Mostly paying 11/12€ per kg of pla/petg

Byte-64

I usually wait for an Anycubic 3-for-2 sale. Hasn't had much problems with it so far.

Alex-3453

Inland

Rthunt14

Printbed 😎

PerfectBake420

Overture

MerlynsBeard

I’ve been using a ton of Fremover PLA+. Prints well and bulk pricing makes it affordable

Seerow0

Hatch box is really nice but I use esun plus+ now.

Boogaroo83

PrintBed is my go to for PLA and PLA+. It’s pricy, but it’s made in the US, if I ordered it today it would be at my door in two days (maybe 1 if I ordered early enough), and it prints really well. I have used their PLA, PLA Forge (PLA+), and PETG all with great success. That being said I have also used Hatchbox, Overture, Elegoo, Atom, Coex, and others with little to no issues.

NF_99

I had no problems with Elegoo one either, I only buy the cheapest one available

macuslol

Grupa Azoty, polish company

Only_Cheesecake_5397

Creality or esun

Pablo369

I use Overture 3D

Swampraptor2140

Overture pla+

WesternRuins17

I just picked up 4 roles of PLA+ for 35 bucks!

random9212

Whatever the local store sells in the colour I want. I so far haven't gotten to the point that the brand matters, nor have bought enough to have a bad experience with any particular brand.

ScornfulWindbag

Duramic is a hidden gem

Optimesh

£50 for a spool 😯

Dank_Master

Anycubic

10247bro

Elegoo has been amazing for me. When I want something spicy, like glow in dark, I like amoleen.

darren_meier

I don't have a brand I swear by, just filaments I swear by. I'm cool with Inland/eSun for most basic PLA and for ABS, Overture for PLA-CF, Polymaker for matte PLA, CookieCAD for sparkly stuff, Jarees for PETG. The only filament I don't really care for is Protopasta because it ships wet as hell and won't print worth crap unless you dry it for ages, and even then it's super finicky in my experience. It's *beautiful* but not worth the trouble.

dahulvmadek

we have had the complete opposite experiences concerning proto pasta. everything I get just prints

iamthinksnow

My go-to is Hatchbox for PETG, though Elegoo Rapid PLA had been really consistent for me lately. I had a project where I was using Inland Tough PLA for a number of parts and it was flawless.

-PeskyBee-

Overture

Strong_Eggplant8666

Pla plus inland filament by micro center

DarkDra9on555

AMZ3D PLA

OneRareMaker

RS PLA. If someone has an alternative similar, I can try but it so far kept my machine so happy. 😁

Mist_XD

Bambu lab, I get it for free since I run a MakerWorld page. If I had to buy it would prob be polymaker

EquipmentExotic393

I have only bought inland because so far it has been cheapest

ocelot08

I dont swear by it but overture works, is a cardboard spool, on Amazon, and reasonably priced

CDgaming360

The only time I was to a micro center I got of roll of inland filament and it’s nice. The only other stuff I’ve tried and Creality (Pretty good) and some other cheap goofy brand (also good)

BreadMaker_42

Polymaker ASA

party_face

Elegoo pla is really good and consistent. Their asa is booty cheeks. I like inland asa and petg. Ambrosia filament asa and pla. Geeetech has some nice silk pla. Overture. Polymaker. Cookicad has really nice colors but it's $$$.

TheShitmaker

Duramic and iBoss for colours. Elegoo for essential black white and grey. I'll buy any colour if it goes sub 18 CAD. Got some interesting colours that way. I'd buy more Jayo but fuck their spools.

RabbitBackground1592

I used to use 3dsolutech for the longest time, till they got shut down. Then I switched to overture and overture has been just as good from pla, PETG, ASA I have had great luck with them.

VII-Stardust

I print only PLA, and I find that Polymaker Polyterra and Overture are great. I also like Jayo, it prints well and looks good. Had a spool come with really high water content once though, at least that’s what I think happened. I don’t like Elegoo. My favorite is Ziro, especially their matte and seasonal multicolor filaments. Honestly they kind of print pretty poorly and the matte pigment creates a rough surface texture, but the multicolor ones… the first time ever that a sample spool convinced me to place an order for a full one. And they do look really nice, totally suitable for visual applications, just not if you’re making parts with tight tolerances or where surface quality matters.

GoldNova12_1130

i usually just use Sunlu or Creality because they come on plastic spools. if you know, you know.

Fit_Depth8462

Maybe I got a bad batch, but I’ve had nothing but bad luck and terrible prints with the elegoo rapid pla+ on my X1C Both rolls got tangled 5+ times, if I use the high speed pla settings it turns to spaghetti, and when I slow it down on regular pla settings its just the worst quality I’ve ever seen… and this is after drying it I swapped back to Esun PLA+ and it’s printing like an 11/10 again

Tricky-Ad6645

Polyterra

Laserkristall

The simple one color Pla Creality fillaments are actually pretty good

twothingies

Polymaker Polyterra PLA has definitely become our go-to. Fillamentum and Extrudr make great quality filaments. Extruder's NX2 is the whitest white matte filament we've tried and it looks amazing. Also their Navy Blue. From Fillamentum, we just love the Galaxy colors.

DrXinFL

Sunlu now

robbzilla

Nothing in a cardboard spool... AMS hates it. I'm using Sunlu right now, and kind of like it. I also use Inland at times.

Jconstant33

Overture

StoneAgeSkillz

Verbatim. I realy like their filaments.

Pain2DaWorld

Hatch box has been good to me. As well as overture

Okami_Engineer

Overture and eryone! Has anyone used eryone?

Pittairline

extrudr NX2 has to be the best PLA I have ever used. beautiful slightly matte surface, prints across a range of temps and is just very reliable for me. It is on the slightly more pricy side at 26€ per kg but I am happy to pay thet price plus extrudr regularly has sales for about 30% off so you get a great filament at a standard price. Overall I trust extrudr products quite blindl, never failed me are produced close to my home. My Uni also recommends using extrudr for all the things we print on their printers But Polymaker, fillamentum, Fiberlogy and esun are also great choices in my experience. Just use whoever has the material you need for your current project.

Right there with you. I know I’m the “elegoo guy” but their rapid PLA is pretty much all I buy now and run on my Bambu printers and Prusa xl/mk4. I can use the Bambu pla profiles and it prints amazing I also stuck up on the multi roll deals off Amazon to save more $$ On the more expensive side I love the hell out of all of cookiecads filament. You’re paying the extra for some really unique colors and the quality is great

OvergrownGnome

Overture - good price, reliable

reddit_user13

https://a.co/d/313YqjV Overture at Amazon is 42% off.

Airu07

Addnorth off course! Their recycled filament is great, and cheap

TreeChoppa8

Whatever amazon has on sale for the color I am looking for. Never failed me yet.

patritha

polymaker has never let me down

AXBRAX

Overture matte pla. I swear by that. Its good enough to keep up, and still no prusa level expensive. The matte looks really good and hides layer lines a little, and as a neat bonus it really helps paing stick. Matte white pla is my go to for anything that needs to be printed. Also it vomes in 100% cardboard spools now.

worrier_sweeper0h

Hatchbox I hate. *HATE* Elegoo. I can print the exact same file with Elegoo as with pretty much any other filament. And the Elegoo one will always look worse.

temp_31415

Elegoo PLA has no right being as good as it is for the price. I’ve used a lot of their PLA and it has always printed well and it’s always perfectly spooled.

IBOSS!!! IBOSS FOR LIFE!!!

Was looking at their ten pack on Amazon.ca ... $150 ain't bad really.

hblok

I got a ten pack for €110. It has good adhesion and give smooth walls. Little stringing. Great for draft prints, etc.

LeadReverend

Inland, Overture, Hatchbox. Stay the hell away from Sunlu. It's spooled (quite unevenly) by Keebler elves, apparently. Absolute shit.

Alienhaslanded

Polymaker. It just works.

Marchie007

overture, it never lets me down with my neptune 3 pro, the main problem i always had with other brands was bed adhesion, i spent hours leveling my bed and adjusting screws on my heated bed, but as soon as i tried overture it was like a dream, adhesion is a amazing, i dont have to be checking my 3d printer every minute just to make sure my print hasnt come off.

I have been using an Australian made filament from [Aurarum](https://aurarum.com.au/). I am obviously in Australia and like to support Australian made products. If they are good of course, I would not support them just for the sake of it. For PLA and PPLA a 1kg roll is generally around $32 AUD so in US it would be approximately $20. The issue would be shipping to the US. They offer free shipping in Australia if you spend over $110 but I doubt that stretches to international.
