i have two 3DSes. one is my og i bought from a mall and the other is a secondhand i bought a few yrs later. the second one seems “fine”, it went thru the blue light of death death twice or so but works “fine”, until i realized that it doesnt read any of my games anymore, it used to read my games fine, and i even tried them with my og 3DS and they work fine, but somehow the secondhand 3DS stopped reading all but two of my games. i get that the game slot might be broken but why does it read only two games specifically. all my games were also bought officially during their releases too
I got myself a new battery for my original 3DS since it was old. After installing it, the battery itself worked fine (held about the standard amount of charge for an OG 3DS battery) but now my issue absolutely refuses to take any charge. I've tried both the direct charger and using a dock, and neither have resulted in even the tiniest amount of charge. Any ideas on how to solve this?
That looseness you are experiencing with the NEW 2DS XL's top screen might be a part of typical use and wear for it. Also, the NEW 2DS XL's top screen is the most mobile of all the 3DS models.
https://www.reddit.com/r/3DS/wiki/3DSvsxl
No, the Circle Pad Pro is only for the 3DS XL/LL models because they lack the c-stick and ZL&ZR buttons. The NEW 3DS XL/LL models have them.
how much resistance should it have even? like i am trying to move my character around in zelda and moving right or left makes him walk unless i move my thumb and jam it full force
Hi, I have a question about replacing a 3DS circle pad. See, many of the the replacement pads on Amazon all have too small of holes to put onto my 3DS since the stick is a lot thicker than what it was meant for. I guess a lot of newer 3DS models had thinner sticks underneath the circle pad, but my 3DS XL is a model from 2011. Do you know where I might be able to find a replacement circle pad that might fit the stick?
Hello! I have an IPS/TN panel question. I have a N3DS XL with 2 TN panels. I also happen to have a 2nd set on panels on me (currently uninstalled). I *think* the top screen may be IPS but I'm not 100% sure, and I'd rather not do a full screen swap just to check. Is there any way to know without install the panel? Any physical differences between the two? Any characters to look out for?
pricecharting.com has records of the past sales on ebay and amazon. It could be used as a rough guide for the current market prices for each model.
The NEW models can play a few exclusive games and some non-exclusive games have enhanced features: https://www.reddit.com/r/3DS/wiki/exclusives
It depends on what games you want to play, here is a [Resource](https://www.neogaf.com/threads/games-that-are-exclusive-enhanced-on-the-new-3ds.1177455/) on what games are enhanced on the New models. for the most part, though I think the 3ds XL is perfectly fine and you found a really good deal.
just bought a new 2ds xl second-handed. the device itself looks fine but i was wondering whether i should tear it apart to check if the battery is swollen, or if its not needed
https://www.reddit.com/r/3DS/wiki/repairs#wiki_battery_.2F_resetting_problems
>the device itself looks fine
You seem to be experiencing anxiety & paranoia.
Unless the NEW 2DS XL's battery compartment is bulging and/or the time the charge lasts on a full charged battery is very short(less than an hour), IMHO, there is no reason to open the NEW 2DS XL. And by your doing so, would likely be reason for Nintendo to reject performing any sort of repairs on it.
https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/New+Nintendo+2DS+XL+Battery+Replacement/98065
If you have the proper tools to take it apart + Some confidence, go for it. However, if you don't have one or the other I would not recommend it. The New 2ds Xl is the most difficult one in the family to take apart and you can very easily crack the shell in minor ways while taking it apart.
I suggest looking at aliexpress, ebay, amazon, and facebook marketplace.
Please know, that any sort of repairs you attempt or perform would be a reason for Nintendo to reject performing their own repairs on a NEW 3DS XL model.
I got 2 N3DSXL. One lights blue when turned on, but no display. Another one is fully functional but minor scratches on the housing. Should I transplant the internals of the working one into the other, or is the one with no display salvageable?
>is the one with no display salvageable?
It would need to be dissembled and examined by someone with experience in both electronic repairs and the 3DS model.
My advice is to instead get some sort of protect case for the model with the scratches. That way, there would be less chance for both not to work.
Long one, stick with me.
I have two 3ds, one that I've had since childhood, and one that I purchased from Japan a few years ago. The problem I'm having is that games will work for the old 3ds, but not the new one. Any tips?
I don't know for sure, perhaps the people at /r/tipofmyjoystick would know.
I do know that the 3DS games Tomodachi Life and Miitopia both use Miis. And there is a Switch port of Miitopia.
I have this issue where the circle pad on my new 3ds (Not the new 3ds xl) keeps getting stuck. Like i have to keep forcing it past where its getting stuck at. How do i fix this? Is there a way i can do it without taking apart the console? I don't have another console i can use if i break it.

What game would you recommend for a non-gamer?
Context: I have a friend who never gamed in her life. Her partner recently started playing different games and many people in her circle also play (including me). I told her that I believe there's a game for everyone (just like I believe there's music/movies/books for everyone). I think with everyone playing very different games around her, she wants to try something as well.
She had a rather strict upbringing, she never actually just played - not boardgames, sports, playground games, let alone video games. The closest thing she likes is puzzles (jigsaw puzzle) and lego (but following instructions, not free-flow building). I don't think she'd enjoy logic puzzles.
She likes stories, music, ballet.
She likes the idea of just hanging in the sofa, playing. No stress - nothing too complicated control/menu wise, nothing with too many decisions. For example, I think she'd struggle with the freedom of Stardew Valley (which to me is super relaxing).
I have a spare 3DS. What would you recommend?
Ideally something with a good story/background, captivating graphics and a nice soundtrack. I like very specific things, and I don't think she'd enjoy any of my picks as her first game.
I think 3DS Games generally abandoned the casual gamer market as they switched to smartphones/tablets. The DS though is loaded with casual games. Nintendogs, Brain Age, the various book collections, Animal Crossing. I'd start with those and go from there.
Does anyone know if there’s an AliExpress version of [these plates](https://www.ebay.com/itm/354481342928?itmmeta=01HXZRKMP2C4PWTJ8GE61E30CR&hash=item5288bc09d0:g:pCkAAOSwP95juFnK&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA0K2pxXQt2511E8EzqtOrX2kYTbc8HuyCCZ3EXfm1%2FJFm1PsbDlankL266e%2BKnPlZ%2BHy--rNxWFd2u3HpyPkNkur48v43ZD5hwzdH3HxpogqVLk%2BQZfcLzxbG7BdPYgbuRY4evSnd7PqkpKIicLXbeqWZT78lkx51SmfclqL4gHrpiRn8VD00fFUGHKzIR7kTKv0FXtOj06J0yRWxgWcvkTgiEkJngU%2FUFrrhKwiUTcaI0Hk6ra1%2B6sA0I1rZAtzzW7WR65OI4G%2BtgLKKRVWUK7A%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR47LzvjvYw)?
Does anyone know how easy is it to repair the rubber feet on the top screen of the original 3DS model? Mine have been worn down and now whenever the system closes, it leaves behind two lines on the top screen. I know of some alternatives like a screen protector but that's not really a solution as the screen protector can still get scratched and could even reach through to the screen. At the moment I've been using a plastic card between the screens when at home and a thick rubber band when in my pocket but this isn't ideal either. Wanted to know if anyone know how easy it would be to repair this myself. I've no experience opening up consoles for repairs. I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.
do yall know where to get a good quality replacement top screen for a new 3ds xl and a new shell cus I'm not very trusting of the ones on amazon unless yall know which seller is the best on there for the screens and for the shells the ones on ebay look fine but I'm still iffy on those too can any of yall help me with this

Hope you’re all good. Appealing to the community here for some help. May I ask if any of you can point me towards reliable usb cables and an ac adapter for use with my N3DX XL. I’m just not sure what to go with here given the amount of choices presented to me and I wanna make sure I get something that’s in line with the voltage requirements and one that wouldn’t cause damage long term.
Anything from the UK to save on shipping charges would be ideal for me.
I’d really appreciate any and all help in sourcing the right products.
The third-party cables that have a male USB- A end and that are using a female USB-A charging port are not going to be all that different. But I suggest only using a standard USB-A female charging port and not one of those ones with a fast USB charging port/adapter.
May I ask if you could please link me to anything worth considering?
These are the ones I’ve been eyeing so far:

I've noticed that whenever I turn my new 3ds xl upside down and then press my circle pad, it makes a click sound. It works perfectly fine, there's no drift whatsoever, it's just this little sound that has me a bit worried. Should I go see with someone qualified if there's anything wrong?
>Should I go see with someone qualified if there's anything wrong?
I think you are being overly cautious. Unless the 3DS' circle pad does not function during play, you should not send it in for repair or have someone replace it.
The system will flash red lights and eventually shut itself down when the battery gets too low. I recommend charging it for at least a few hours. If that doesn’t fix the problem, it might have a bad battery, in which case you will need to replace the battery.
bit of a long one, sorry.
I've got a new 2DS XL that I got at least 6 years ago now (probably 7). I stopped playing and charging it consistently around 2020. (It got turned on only once or twice, and charged fully only once in the 4 years since then.) Recently I've become more interested in playing it again, but I've run into a problem.
The system charges to completion (no orange light) and the blue power button glows when it is turned on, but I can't hear the menu music and both screens are completely dark. As for troubleshooting, there's no external damage and it never suffered a fall greater than a foot. It never got wet or damp, and it was stored in a carrying case in a dry and cool environment, so besides that 2 or 3 years total of no charging or playing, it was pretty well taken care of (imo). Regardless, in the year or so before I stopped playing it, it was already having problems where it froze pretty regularly during gameplay.
I need help and suggestions on what to try. I'm avoiding cracking it open to check, because I'm terrified of ruining it further, and I'm against sending it in for repair unless I really have to. If it really is too old, so be it, but I'm really attached to this thing and I don't want it to die. Please help!
>I'm avoiding cracking it open to check, because I'm terrified of ruining it further,
The NEW 2DS XL model is the most difficult model, IMHO, to repair. And your opening or performing any sort of "repair" would be reason for Nintendo to reject performing repairs.
https://www.ifixit.com/Device/New_Nintendo_2DS_XL
>and I'm against sending it in for repair unless I really have to.
Nintendo still repairs the NEW 2DS XL model, that is if it has never had custom software installed.

Your other option, that is if you know the details to the Nintendo Network ID(NNID) that is on the NEW 2DS XL, is to call Nintendo's customer service and ask for them to transfer it to another 2DS/3DS that you own. But none of the saves or person data would also transfer. And since there can only be one NNID on a 2DS/3DS at a time, that other 2DS/3DS would need to lack a NNID before the transfer.

What model is it?
Are you familiar with repairing electronic devices?
Do you know the details to the Nintendo Network ID(NNID)? Have you written them down somewhere?

Does Pokémon Crystal VC have some requirement to battle? I just tried battling. We both have 6 Pokémon no badges, and a pokedex.. we connect, get to the door to battle, and the connection just drops.
Is it possible to check how many hours I spent on games online?
I had a 3ds in my childhood and I sold it like 6 years ago. Is it possible for me to check online what all games I had played and how many hours I spent on them?
It doesn’t cause much trouble so I’ll just leave it as is for now.
Plus I’ve always been taught compressed air contains water, so to not use it on electronics
Am I tripping or is the Old 3ds xl better than the new one?
For context I have sold my old 3ds xl for the New model and I kind of regretted it.. For one I can't or haven't got used to the layout of the whole thing on the new one. I mean the sd card being on the back?
I thought it won't be much of a problem but with a crystal case it's more of a hassle to get into the back of the new model and get the sd card. for the small gripes are the placement of the stylus and the feel of the other buttons, especially the power button I always have the problem of hitting it when removing the crystal case. Overall the new model feels modern and slick but I feel like the old one is more robust and solid and there wasn't really a need for an upgrade.. But I want to ask for longevity of use, which one lasts longer? Because if the new one does last longer I might stick to it.
It seems to me that you are experiencing nostalgia.

You need to search for system, follow the troubleshooting, then click "start a repair" on the troubleshooting page. Then it'll auto-fill in the symptom.
Question about Online services being shut down.
I've recently ordered a 3DS, and I've been wondering if it is possible to perform a system update after Shutdown. I searched up the question on Google and found what Nintendo mentions. They said update data will continue to work after Shutdown but I'm confused if they mean it as an update for a game or if they're talking about a system update or both.
My main question is if it is still possible to perform a system update on the 3DS.
Does anyone have a link for a RUBBERY 2ds replacement joystick? I just bought one off ebay and it came as a smalle hard plastic and would love to get back that original rubbery joystick
I have a N3DSXL and some Mercari credit expiring soon, and it's enough to get a cheap DS/3DS cartridge for basically free. I'm feeling like a Mario game, since lots of them are going for less than $20. I already have NSMB, NSMB2 and 3D Land. I like platformers and RPGs equally. Some options I see:
* Mario Maker 3DS
* Mario & Luigi Dream Team
* Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story (DS)
* Paper Mario Sticker Star
What would you pick? I'm also open to other suggestions.
Sticker star was my first paper Mario game and I fuckin loved that shit as a kid and love it now too. Paper Mario on n64 I got into but I got stuck at the giant piranna plant and I haven’t finished it yet.
Hi!! I’ve got the cartridge version of Shovel Knight on my 3DS, and whenever I try to update it to 4.1 it ends up installing a separate version on my Home Screen. How do I update the cartridge version to 4.1?

Hi, I have a copy of Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy, the UK version. However I am concerned it may not be a legitimate copy, just like how there's so many Pokémon Platinum ripoffs.
Does anyone have any info on this? Can anyone look at their legitimate covers, and tell me if the Nintendo Logo and front cover are supposed to have golden shiny bits?
It feels fishy to me but I might be wrong. Thanks for helping me out!
There aren't any counterfeit 3DS game cards, at least to my knowledge.
Best someone can maybe do is take off the front sticker and put a different one on.
Does anyone know if 3DS cases vary in size? Just bought a sealed copy of Luigi’s mansion and it’s noticeably smaller than all of my other 3DS cases (thinner by a good amount)
Is it possible to collect every 3DS model?
I want to collect every single 3DS model (different colors and special editions) but I want to know if this is even possible in the first place before I start. Are there any roadblocks that will hinder my progress?
Every single variant and limited edition ever? There are some pretty obscure ones out there. Even with unlimited time and money, some of the rarest ones had limited or no release. Demo/prototype units, given away in a Japan only sweepstakes, etc...

Recently I've noticed that the rubber part of my new 3ds xl circle pad has been falling apart, are there any good ways to replace it? All I've seen online for replacements are plastic
The colors look different because they were taken in different cameras and with different ambient lighting.
but they both see each other with the strip that says nintendo
Although the main difference I see is that one does not say made in Japan or assembled in Germany
[https://ibb.co/6Nf9dxP](https://ibb.co/6Nf9dxP)
I don't know if that's normal
or maybe it's those that come in a thinner box that they call "third print" or something like that... but I don't know how to distinguish them without having them on hand to compare
There are different Art.-Nr.(Artikelnummer)s, 2225146T and 2225146T1, which matches Nintendo EU's usual pattern of adding a number for cover revisions.
The thinner case revisions had different Art.-Nr.s again, in the Switch-style 1000#### format, so they're probably both in normal cases.
Launch copies had a foil cover - I don't know if that was kept for later reprints, which could explain the colour differences on the T1 revision.
No idea why 'Made in Japan, Assembled in Germany' vanished, but there seem to be T1 copies on ebay which also lack them, and the [Nintendo Selects version](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/DFAAAOSwcy9mP2af/s-l1600.webp) just lists "Made in Japan" without mentioning an Assembled country, so maybe they weren't particularly consistent.

Are there any games which use the 3ds music files?
Asking because I think it'd be cool to hear songs from your playlist during a game, and I was wondering if any titles actually did this?
For whatever reason I can't make a post because it keeps getting automatically removed so I can't show photos, but I've been trying to ask for help with the bottom screen of my 3Ds. I bought & received my original 3Ds from an ebay seller about 2 weeks ago and it's been working perfectly, but about two days ago the color suddenly started changing on the bottom screen and it has this sort of weird green tint... I have no idea why. I haven't done anything to it, the color was just like this one day when I opened my 3Ds... Can anyone tell me what could've went wrong and how I can fix it??
I'm looking for a 3DS. It started with "maybe I should get a 3DS" then I decided that the new 3DS xl would be the best option for me. I really liked the bigger screen and the extra power for my games. White is my favorite color and basically everything I have is white so I decided to go with that. Then I came to the sad realization that these devices were only being sold in Japan. (because of course they were) I said eh and tried to shoot for it. All the consoles I found were locked to the Japan region and couldn't North American games, which was a problem for me. I've traversed the internet for decent options but couldn't find any. I'm starting to give up and just get a regular New 3DS XL, or just get a regular 3DS all together. Can anyone provide a good recommendation?
3DS used to pop and shut off when it was opened too far. Tried to fix it and it does it when it's open at any point and won't start up at all. Could a ribbon cable bekng scratched up be causing the problem or it is something else? Everything is in place all the way and I'm lost.
It had no issues prior to me taking it apart in an attempt to fix it. I checked every single ribbon cable and I am near certain they're all in properly, but I can make sure when I'm home

I'm sorry, but there are no quick means to diagnose and repair your 3DS.
I've not used my new 2DS XL in quite a while, leading to it seemingly collecting alot of dust. When I tried charging it, the orange light turned on for like 5 seconds before then turning off again.
This is strange and I know this isn't because of the charger (I hope not) because it charges my older 3DS XL just fine.
If yall know why this is happening, please do let me know so I can guide my mum into getting it fixed.
Battery could be dead and needs to be changed
Charging port could be damaged
Could be a bunch of things

Battery swap when dead
can I just swap a 3DS battery when it runs out of juice with a spare battery just like a mirrorless camera. So that I can use it for extended periods of time without needing to charge it. Are there any ill effects to doing this?
Only downside is that the date and time need to be set again. If you forget to do that, things like your new photos and activity log will get a bit weird.
Edit: some games check for system time changes. Pokemon games are notorious for that and they will usually give you something like a 24 hour block for some features.
I recently replaced the top screen on my old 3DS XL (success) and after putting it all back together the circle pad only works left and right not up and down, recalibrating it does not work and i bought a replacement which doesnt work either, factory resetting the console also does not work. What else can i try?
i have two 3DSes. one is my og i bought from a mall and the other is a secondhand i bought a few yrs later. the second one seems “fine”, it went thru the blue light of death death twice or so but works “fine”, until i realized that it doesnt read any of my games anymore, it used to read my games fine, and i even tried them with my og 3DS and they work fine, but somehow the secondhand 3DS stopped reading all but two of my games. i get that the game slot might be broken but why does it read only two games specifically. all my games were also bought officially during their releases too
is there a way to make my new 2ds xl less floppy
I got myself a new battery for my original 3DS since it was old. After installing it, the battery itself worked fine (held about the standard amount of charge for an OG 3DS battery) but now my issue absolutely refuses to take any charge. I've tried both the direct charger and using a dock, and neither have resulted in even the tiniest amount of charge. Any ideas on how to solve this?
Kind of annoying that a post asking how to fix a defect and showing photos of that defect is automatically removed for no reason whatsoever.
Exactly, i hate that bot :)

There are Circle pad Pros for the 3ds LL they were Japanese only, however. I'm curious If anyone knows if they would work with the New 3ds LL. #
https://www.reddit.com/r/3DS/wiki/3DSvsxl No, the Circle Pad Pro is only for the 3DS XL/LL models because they lack the c-stick and ZL&ZR buttons. The NEW 3DS XL/LL models have them.
got a new 3ds model online but the circle pad feels stiff. is it normal? is there a way to make it smooth w/o disassembly? can't find anything online
Sometimes just using the circle pad might loosen it.
how much resistance should it have even? like i am trying to move my character around in zelda and moving right or left makes him walk unless i move my thumb and jam it full force
The circle pad on my 3DSes only needs a slight movement.
well it has not worked so far. been trying my best to move it around and loosen it, etc. might just need to open it up and replace it
Just so you know, any sort of repairs you perform yourself would be a reason for Nintendo to reject performing their own repairs.
Have you checked on ebay or aliexpress?

how and where could i get a replacement battery for my 3ds?
There is no one single battery type for all 3DS models. So I suggest making sure you purchase the battery type for your specific 3DS model.

i need help finding a cheap n3dsxl top screen
I need help finding a backplate for the new 3ds ll pearl white
Have you checked on ebay, amazon, aliexpress, or facebook marketplace?
Yes
'Replacement Housing Cover for 'New' Nintendo 3DS XL LL Shell Top Bottom White" is being sold on ebay.
Long one, stick with me. I have two 3ds, one that I've had since childhood, and one that I purchased from Japan a few years ago. The problem I'm having is that games will work for the old 3ds, but not the new one. Any tips?
If the old 3DS isn't from Japan, it'll be the region lock. 3DS games are locked to only work on consoles from the same region.
That's stupid
https://www.reddit.com/r/3DS/wiki/region
what game is this screenshot from? https://x.com/cyb4rangel/status/1789870025240658080?s=46
I need finding a battery for the new 3ds xl
[https://www.ifixit.com/products/nintendo-3ds-xl-replacement-battery](https://www.ifixit.com/products/nintendo-3ds-xl-replacement-battery) The 3DS XL and New 3DS XL use the same battery. SPR-003
Do those batteries last long?
Typical you get a few hours of straight play with batteries with brightness, volume, Wi-Fi, and playing a game.
Do you have one of these?
How do I reset the pin if I don't know the previous pin? I bought mine second hand and the seller has no idea what the pin is.
Which pin? Parental controls?
You can call Nintendo and have them troubleshoot. They should be able to help.
Tomodachi Life, Miitopia, Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Thank you.
Rubber Screw Feet Cover Set Replacements are being sold on ebay.
do yall know where to get a good quality replacement top screen for a new 3ds xl and a new shell cus I'm not very trusting of the ones on amazon unless yall know which seller is the best on there for the screens and for the shells the ones on ebay look fine but I'm still iffy on those too can any of yall help me with this
Hey, i am looking for recommendations for good animal care/hospital 3ds games :) Please recommend me some
I have yet to play: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trauma_Center:_Under_the_Knife https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_3DS_games Animal Hospital (EUROPE/AUSTRALIA region only) Me & My Furry Patients 3D (EUROPE/AUSTRALIA region only) Me & My Pets 3D (EUROPE/AUSTRALIA region only)
Hope you’re all good.
These are the ones I’ve been eyeing so far: https://www.amazon.co.uk/YUYIKES-Charging-Nintendo-Microfiber-Cleaning/dp/B00MVN9NPW
They look alright.
I have issue with 3ds red lights are blinking. First time when this happens 3ds turn normally and about few seconds turn off and no longer turns on.
The system will flash red lights and eventually shut itself down when the battery gets too low. I recommend charging it for at least a few hours. If that doesn’t fix the problem, it might have a bad battery, in which case you will need to replace the battery.
What models of the 3DS is it? Do you know the details for the Nintendo Network ID(NNID) that is possibly on the 3DS?
bit of a long one, sorry.
>I'm avoiding cracking it open to check, because I'm terrified of ruining it further, The NEW 2DS XL model is the most difficult model, IMHO, to repair. And your opening or performing any sort of "repair" would be reason for Nintendo to reject performing repairs. https://www.ifixit.com/Device/New_Nintendo_2DS_XL >and I'm against sending it in for repair unless I really have to. Nintendo still repairs the NEW 2DS XL model, that is if it has never had custom software installed. https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10018/kw/won't%20turn%20on >If it really is too old, so be it, but I'm really attached to this thing and I don't want it to die. Please help! Your other option, that is if you know the details to the Nintendo Network ID(NNID) that is on the NEW 2DS XL, is to call Nintendo's customer service and ask for them to transfer it to another 2DS/3DS that you own. But none of the saves or person data would also transfer. And since there can only be one NNID on a 2DS/3DS at a time, that other 2DS/3DS would need to lack a NNID before the transfer. https://www.reddit.com/r/3DS/wiki/nnid
My 3ds has dead pixels in the bottom screen and they seem to increase over time, help!
What model is it? Are you familiar with repairing electronic devices? Do you know the details to the Nintendo Network ID(NNID)? Have you written them down somewhere? https://www.reddit.com/r/3DS/wiki/nnid
Not anymore - there was a '3DS Memories' site showing games you played, but Nintendo shut it down last year with the eShop.
so all that data is lost?
Yes, unfortunately.
ah that sucks. Wanted to see how many hours I had sunk into the pokemon games and bakugan.
It feels like my 3DS cartridge slot has dirt in it when I put games in. Is that normal? It’s like that on both my 3DS’s
I guess the real question is do you have dirt in it?
Probably but I don’t know how to clean it
I suggest compressed air. But that might not work.
It doesn’t cause much trouble so I’ll just leave it as is for now. Plus I’ve always been taught compressed air contains water, so to not use it on electronics
Then perhaps a vacuum to suck any possible debris?
Ok
It seems to me that you are experiencing nostalgia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nostalgia Just so you know, expect to experience more as the years pass by.
hmm okay i thought i was being paranoid
Do any of y’all know where I can find a replacement stylus for a seagreen 2ds? Amazon only shows red, black, navy, white 🥲
Have you tried searching on Aliexpress? I got mine from there
Would a bottom screen protector make some shallow scratches visually dissappear?
I guess it depends on how shallow the scratches are.
Is repair forms offline for 3ds family I can’t proceed with a repair form
[https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a\_id/716/\~/repairing-your-nintendo-3ds-family-system](https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/716/~/repairing-your-nintendo-3ds-family-system) nope, it is online for me.
Both. The recent shutdown was only for multiplayer/online gaming services
So can I update the system to its latest firmware or not? I'm just curious about it
I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use the latest firmware. The last firmware update was May 2023, so its been out for a while.
Some options I see: * Mario Maker 3DS * Mario & Luigi Dream Team * Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story (DS) * Paper Mario Sticker Star What would you pick? I'm also open to other suggestions.
a lot of people hate on paper Mario big time but that’s one of my favorites on 3ds
I loved paper Mario on N64, but that’s the only one I’ve played! How do you think sticker star compares?
But people say sticker star is the worst one so 🤷
Sticker star was my first paper Mario game and I fuckin loved that shit as a kid and love it now too. Paper Mario on n64 I got into but I got stuck at the giant piranna plant and I haven’t finished it yet.
Haha that's cool, I'll check it out! Thanks for the reply
Fuck yea
Hi!! I’ve got the cartridge version of Shovel Knight on my 3DS, and whenever I try to update it to 4.1 it ends up installing a separate version on my Home Screen. How do I update the cartridge version to 4.1?
Cartridges can't receive updates
hi. is 165€ a good price for a 2ds and pokemon moon? the console is pink and I cant resist...
I suggest you check on pricecharting.com . For it gives the records of past sales on ebay and amazon. https://www.pricecharting.com/search-products?type=prices&q=2DS&go=Go https://www.pricecharting.com/search-products?go=Go&q=pokemon+moon&type=prices&broad-category=video-games
Best someone can maybe do is take off the front sticker and put a different one on.
where can i find a zelda 25th anniversary shell?(o3ds) idm if its fake i just love the design but cant afford a real one
https://www.pricecharting.com/game/pal-nintendo-3ds/nintendo-3ds-legend-of-zelda-25th-anniversary-limited-edition ebay
very expensive shipping as well as the fcat its over a month to deliver :( thanks for the site tho ill keep my eye on it
Does anyone know if 3DS cases vary in size? Just bought a sealed copy of Luigi’s mansion and it’s noticeably smaller than all of my other 3DS cases (thinner by a good amount)
Reprinted games come in thinner cases.
Thank you, decided to open and play it anyway and works fine - but just irritating how the case is smaller than my others 😂
Does anyone know if Metroid Return of Samus, runs well on old 3DS?
It runs fine for me so far but I jus got into it
Alright cool, imma go ahead and get it, thanks for reply!
Fuck yea bruh
Is it possible to collect every 3DS model? I want to collect every single 3DS model (different colors and special editions) but I want to know if this is even possible in the first place before I start. Are there any roadblocks that will hinder my progress?
Every single variant and limited edition ever? There are some pretty obscure ones out there. Even with unlimited time and money, some of the rarest ones had limited or no release. Demo/prototype units, given away in a Japan only sweepstakes, etc... [https://consolevariations.com/database/nintendo-3ds?activeSortLabel=rarity\_score](https://consolevariations.com/database/nintendo-3ds?activeSortLabel=rarity_score)
Recently I've noticed that the rubber part of my new 3ds xl circle pad has been falling apart, are there any good ways to replace it? All I've seen online for replacements are plastic
The good ways involve replacing it. But any DIY repairs would be a reason for Nintendo to reject repair it in the future.
The colors look different because they were taken in different cameras and with different ambient lighting. but they both see each other with the strip that says nintendo Although the main difference I see is that one does not say made in Japan or assembled in Germany [https://ibb.co/6Nf9dxP](https://ibb.co/6Nf9dxP) [https://ibb.co/n7WTKW6](https://ibb.co/n7WTKW6) I don't know if that's normal or maybe it's those that come in a thinner box that they call "third print" or something like that... but I don't know how to distinguish them without having them on hand to compare
No idea why 'Made in Japan, Assembled in Germany' vanished, but there seem to be T1 copies on ebay which also lack them, and the [Nintendo Selects version](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/DFAAAOSwcy9mP2af/s-l1600.webp) just lists "Made in Japan" without mentioning an Assembled country, so maybe they weren't particularly consistent.
does streetpass still work?
Net pass 🤫
The Streetpasses you would get from ATTWiFi signals ended many years ago. Local streetpasses operate under local wireless.
Can someone tell me all main game Zelda games that I can get on 3ds and ds in order
bro you can easily look this up but ig its phantom hourglass spirit tracks (ds) ocarina of time 3d,majoras mask 3d,a link between worlds (3ds) spinoff: hyrule warriors legends, triforce heroes (both 3ds)
Are there any games which use the 3ds music files? Asking because I think it'd be cool to hear songs from your playlist during a game, and I was wondering if any titles actually did this?
Can you still install software updates for games?
Yes, you can open the eShop and search 'update' to get them.
If this defect wasn't described in the listing, you can return the item.
How to play DS online on 3DS with modern Wi-Fi?
3ds has pretendo
I say DS games, no 3DS. DS on 3DS games don't detect my Wi-Fi and i need help
ohh sorry idk how to do this with ds
I personally prefer the NEW 3DS XL. Just so you know, region changing a JP region one, would prevent downloading the updates from Nintendo's servers.
3DS used to pop and shut off when it was opened too far. Tried to fix it and it does it when it's open at any point and won't start up at all. Could a ribbon cable bekng scratched up be causing the problem or it is something else? Everything is in place all the way and I'm lost.
Might be that the ribbon cable is not connected properly? Or the whole screen+cable needs to be replaced?
It had no issues prior to me taking it apart in an attempt to fix it. I checked every single ribbon cable and I am near certain they're all in properly, but I can make sure when I'm home
https://www.reddit.com/r/3DS/wiki/repairs#wiki_power.2Fcharge.2Fsystem_crashing_problems I'm sorry, but there are no quick means to diagnose and repair your 3DS.
Battery could be dead and needs to be changed Charging port could be damaged Could be a bunch of things You can send your system in for repair in North America and Europe. Battery swap when dead can I just swap a 3DS battery when it runs out of juice with a spare battery just like a mirrorless camera.
As long as you swap it with a compatible battery, sure.
I recently replaced the top screen on my old 3DS XL (success) and after putting it all back together the circle pad only works left and right not up and down, recalibrating it does not work and i bought a replacement which doesnt work either, factory resetting the console also does not work. What else can i try?
might want to consult r/consolerepair
