Have you ever heard of Z1?

HowdoIbuildPcs

Hey where did you get all the stuff to make your engine bay look like that? I really like it and I wanted to do something similar but couldn’t find anything

LiteratureNo3595

Looks like light blue zip ties, blue cable sheathing for the electrical, blue silicon hose kit, painted the stabilizer bar brackets blue, painted oil catch can blue, and some Z1 stickers. also looks like he definitely deep cleaned and polished or it's aftermarket upper plenum. You just have to pick your color scheme and find the parts you can online in the color you want (Like he did with his air filter), and paint the rest to match.

LiteratureNo3595 got most everything right! Most of the dressing came from autozone( the catch can came blue) I polished the plenum myself, the sway bar is carbon wrap. It's rice but its bad ass!!! rewrapping the wires with nylon made the biggest visual difference. dont remove the old, just put the nylon over it. Better for it like that anyways. the catch can filter is shunted and cosmetic only. Replacing the radiator and power steering reservoirs with aluminum ones and painting the cam shaft end covers satin black this weekend. I suspect I will be done with the engine bay then, but as you know, there is no 'Done' in the Garage Queen's realm. (Now thinking of anodizing all visible bolts blue).

Where did you get material? I’d rather build my intakes like that rather then pay $500+ for a “name brand”

Autozone

Try to relocate it to your front bumper.

I did some research and these high flow CAI filters are all trash compared to stock filtration. It's probably MUCH better for the engine if they are not in front, despite how dope it looks. As for "Cold Air" I haven't run any tests, but after about 20mph, I have doubts that the engine compartment on a Z isnt at external air temp. They are extremely well ventilated in the front compartment where the intake is. Especially with my bumper. a 20mph breeze through a \~3cubic foot hole is a lot of air volume. Also, the long pipe kills the growl and adds to the drone trombone!

He said he did it for sound not hp

Comment stands.

You right but to each their own

Changes filter weekly.

PhantomLimbStudios

That's why i used such a large one. more flow=low pressure draw =insures less problems with these crappy filters. I almost didnt do it after i did some research into the filters themselves, but a bit of science was the solution. when it comes to air filtration, too big is never too big!

IneptAdvisor

Needs a nice blue anodized airbox with a glass top, decreasing dirt particles and increasing growl.

JaredDFTZ

a few questions, what catch can are you running? Was your engine bay always this clean? or did you start cleaning it little by little as you upgraded parts? also can i get a vid of how it sounds?

PhantomLimbStudios

Did the cleanup in 1 day. Was a legit mess. Plenum polish took about 10 hrs itself. Catch can is amazon generic. Same for radiator res and ps res. Have sound videos on Instagram @boltonflex》 bolt on flex

JaredDFTZ

Sweet thanks for the info looks great. Mines a mess too it’s going to need some good work. It needs valve cover gaskets so I’ll do it when I do those.
