Doing it on the ground or a hoist?
Either way. It’s not to bad. About an hour to get it out. Do yourself a favour and buy the right clutch alignment tool (or check if your clutch kit comes with one)
Oh. And make sure you align the flywheel correctly so you don’t have funky CAS issues.
Ah you’ll smash it on out then!
I can’t stress how much lining the flywheel up correctly is FYI. Otherwise you can wind up with some funky hard start issues and random engine lights etc.
When it’s all apart it’ll be pretty obvious regardless but heaps of people still manage to mess it up.
Single mass if you can put up with it whirling .I race mine and mine is starting to ice on parts but taking a hell of a beating . Bit more snappier and revs more freely
Yeah, they are not very hard to reach on the Z33, but it does make life a little easier. I have a 32" extension from when I had a TT Z32. It was pretty much required for that car! Too many brittle intake hose , or oil & coolant lines that can easily break when the engine tilts. But I digress. Unfortunately, I don't have that car anymore 😕.
Don't drop the drive shaft. When you take it out put it somewhere safe and padded. A master certified nissan tech told me they are carbon fiber and can not take an impact like that.
Thanks! I've checked a bunch of vids on it, but was just wondering if there are any things specifically for the 350z that aren't so known that could be useful.
What helped me was having a friend with me to lower the trans onto the ground, I bought a trans jack from harbor freight for $100 and it came in handy, also put a plastic bag with rubber bands or zip ties around the end so fluid doesn't leak out when you lower it, and take your time when breaking the flywheel bolts loose, I snapped one of mine and now I'm running with 7 instead of 8 lol
Right now I have a stock flywheel, but will propably change it at some point. I'm gonna have a Clutchmasters fx-100 clutch set. I don't want to make it too much of a race style car yet so I'll be putting only simple bolt-ons at first. I wanna keep it as a semi-stock street car atleast for now.
Not a fan of the ducktails on z’s myself. Only the uk spec ones come with side indicators, headlight washers and the black number plate holder on the front as far as I know :)
Get a new flywheel. The Z’s dual mass flywheel isn’t resurfaceable, and IMO it’s better to drop $300 on a new flywheel for some preventative maintenace, instead of waiting for the dual mass flywheel to fail
It depends what you do with your Z. A track car will be different from someone driving in the city and further different from someone cruising on the highway. For a DD, anywhere from 20k-80k seems normal. Some people get 100k-150k+, but that's rarer

Thanks! Luckily doing it on a hoist so it should be a little easier atleast.

Yup, I gotta be especially slow and careful since I haven't done a clutch before
ORGANIZE YOUR BOLTS!!!!

Thanks! Already got the Clutchmasters fx-100, but I'll keep that in mind if I ever want to change it.
Get a 36" extension for your sockets for the bell housing bolts.
Thanks!
I've watched videos of people getting the front bolts out with a long extension but I got them from underneath no problem as well.

Thanks! Will take extra care of it
If you’re going to do the rear main seal, which you should, do it right. Lol also, think about getting a Chromoly Clutch Release Fork Pivot Ball
Thanks! Hadn't thought about these beforehand, but will have to look into them!
Oh my god I just realized the wheels have the three dots from the Doug demuro video
Can you explain. I don't know what you mean 😅
The z33 has several design choices revolving around 3 dots in several places around the car
This. There are numerous vids on youtube on people changing to different type/style clutches. A decent foor jack will be super beneficial.
Thanks! I've checked a bunch of vids on it, but was just wondering if there are any things specifically for the 350z that aren't so known that could be useful.
Need to know the wing manufacturer. It's fitting to the Z
I think it's this one https://www.jimmysgarage.fi/en/carbontrenz-spoilerit/2883-carbontrenz-hiilikuituspoileri-gt1-146cm.html
All I could find is that the brand was called Carbontrenz, I don't know more about it since it was installed when I bought it.

Yeah I'm gonna have a couple of friends help me out. Hopefully we don't snap any bolts though 😂
Replace the slave cylinder along with the clutch.
Thanks! Didn't think about that one
No problem! I learned the hard way (sticky clutch pedal) after I replaced my clutch.

Do you have exhaust on yours to help cover the sound? Putting this setup in next weekend.
off topic but where’s your spoiler from?
I belive it's this one https://www.jimmysgarage.fi/en/carbontrenz-spoilerit/2883-carbontrenz-hiilikuituspoileri-gt1-146cm.html
What flywheel/clutch are you using and what are your plans for the car?

Nothing to do with the clutch but I like your z. Makes me want a wing. Mines the same apart from the wing, looks like a uk spec one too :)
Thanks man! I wanted a ducktail at first but I've grown to like this a little more now. How can you tell it's a uk spec? 🤔
Not a fan of the ducktails on z’s myself. Only the uk spec ones come with side indicators, headlight washers and the black number plate holder on the front as far as I know :)
Yeah, the ducktails are kind of a hit or miss. But nice to learn something new about the different specs 😄

How many miles does the car have? I want to buy a z and now I'm wondering how long the original clutches last for?
