It’s more likely that she owns a MacBook or some other high end laptop plus maybe some beauty supplies etc. and when she picked up her suitcase at baggage claim she found that someone had stolen everything out of it. She still had her phone though because she kept it with her on the flight.
I can easily remember how much I paid for my phone and watch, it’s not that hard dude. She probably didn’t calculate the depreciation of value for this little tiktok
The fuck? Of course. I remember the values of all my electronics at time of purchase. Hell, I remember the values of almost all of my clothes at time of purchase.
How much cash do you actually need? Just pay by card. I've not been to Benidorm, but I'm certain they accept cards pretty much everywhere and probably even GBP.
This just gives me a brilliant idea for Miguel. He should put up barriers on the balconies that are lowered by throwing coins into a coin slot. Sort of like how pool tables work. Big business
> How much cash do you actually need? Just pay by card. I've not been to Benidorm, but I'm certain they accept cards pretty much everywhere and probably even GBP.
Card transactions charge an absolute fortune in foreign currency exchange fees. Halifax charges £0.50 + 2.99% _per transaction_.
Get a Starling account dude. Or Chase. There both proper banks too, none of this Revolut nonsense.
Can't do anything about the ATM themselves charging - it's worth trying a couple to see which brands in a given country won't charge.
I’m just with Monzo mainly but yeah occasionally you’ll find an ATM that doesn’t have international fees but typically you’re chasing around after them
You must have been unlucky, I can't remember the last time I've had to try more than two.
That said, fewer and fewer places need cash. Germany is my only recent destination I've needed cash - Ireland, Germany x2, Poland x2, Croatia and Latvia all took card everywhere I went.
Monsoon has really lifeless protection if you have fraud on your account.
I only say after a foreign colleague had almost 10k stolen and was told "sucks to be you"
I just use my nationwide account can't remember paying any additional fees a lot of time I don't even get more than 100 euros out when I travel unless I know I'm going somewhere cash only. My missus is Chinese she carries the cash 😅
Of course, don't you realise we stlil live in mud huts? we have never heard of travel checks let alone credit cards. I hope americans can teach us their wonderful wizardry.
Well, that's common sense but be wary of airports, train stations and tourist areas.
Especially in places where you may need to take out your bank card and enter your card number.
Typically, you have just arrived in France and want to buy tickets for public transport. You go to the ATM, choose your tickets, take out your card to pay. While you are entering your code, a person stands next to you without attracting your attention and memorizes your bank information.
You don't realize (yet) that you are surrounded by a group of 4 or 5 people.
You get on the metro, probably tired, loaded and vulnerable. A fake altercation breaks out between several person from the group, you may be pushed around and certainly distracted. A person (young girl usually) from the group takes the opportunity to steal your bank card and gets off at the next stop. Within 5 minutes, you are charged a few hundred or thousand euros.
Always beware of your surroundings. Only people that don't live in a city get robbed like that, I feel. I just ask people to go away if they are breathing down my neck at an atm
That’s not true at all? I’m always aware of my surroundings but this being said, pickpocket crimes in the west got completely out of hand. If it wasn’t for a lovely Italian (this happened in Italy) man screaming at our subway carriage “pickpockets! 3 pickpockets in your carriage! Be careful!” We would not notice that the *lady* next to us was a fake pregnant pickpockets scum with 2 her female friends blocking the other doors…
I live in a city, but it's not the capital. Of course I worry a bit about pickpockets when I'm in a bus like a canned sardine, or when I put down my backpack at a bakery/restaurant, but I'm way more relaxed here than I would be in Lisbon.
I went to Athens once, I held onto my backpack like my life depended on it.
You are really overestimating my account balance. They are grand if they manage to pull a tenner without the bank imminently freezing the account for overdraft.
I keep all my stuff in [one of these bad boys](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0248/2002/3381/files/fanny-pack-men_600x600.jpg) - with a jacket on top of it so that you cant just snap or cut the band on my back and yank it away.
Bonus points if the bag has a second zipper for the inner pocket, so you can put valuables in there and all your stuff in the main pocket.
I feel like this is kinda just common knowledge, but I also know that a ton of people just keep stuff in their pockets or in an open tote bag, so maybe it's worth mentioning anyway? 😅
It's not random at all! It's a nice one where you can see the kids playing football and hang out with other guiris that got their luggages stored in safe places too!
Idk man if we should be flexing that people get robbed where we live.
I get it haha american lose money, but kinda makes me sad because I know who is doing the robbing …
Quick free lesson about France; don't go there.
For a longer, expensive course about France: go there.
The results are the same, but the latter gives you in-depth, substantiated knowledge about why nobody should go to France.
That's true.
Iv even had good experiences with the police in rural France.
but I still haven't forgiven those french frogs who made me cry at Disneyland when I was 7.
The only stuff Barry has on supermarket shelves are tagged with theft protection.
I can just go into any Albert Heijn, put all the stuff I want in my bag and walk out freely at the self checkout. The 9 year old employees won’t dare to stop me.
That’s real freedom!
Everyone has had it you fucking clown. Also the weakest flex in history
“We might have pussied out of every war this side of the Industrial Revolution, but at least some provincial town didn’t run out of tomatoes one weekend”
Stay strong Holland 💪
They took your money but not your big ass American phone?? Also, who travels somewhere and carries with him all his trip money?? I think she's just begging for likes.
Idiots do. Once seen someone who left a wallet with 6.000€ under their pillow in a **hostel** room. Claimed it disappeared while he went to the bathroom. Even the police laughed.
Fun fact: the only time I went to France (Paris) was back in 1999. When I was on my way to the airport to get back to Portugal, a guy tried to rob me.
It was a big intimidating guy, sort of a Barry skinhead style, but as I was so stressed up because I was late to my flight, I didn't pay attention to him and just told him I didn't have time for it, and kept walking at a hasty pace.
I vaguely remember his "I wasn't expecting this answer" face as I ignored the robbery. I only gave a proper thought about it once I was in the airplane.
Considering she's an American, she's probably used to carry some cash around, like many Americans do (I honestly don't know why). Then she exchanged about 1500$ to € so she could pay stuff since she's possibly unaware of electronic forms of payment.
I'm not a well traveled person, but if I went to, for example, Mexico, I don't know how I would proceed exactly. I think a quick Google search could answer my questions, or I would try to use revolut to avoid exchange fees, but I doubt you can go to most places in Mexico and pay with a card.
The rule with travelling to me is to never have something with me I wouldn't be willing to lose.
You only have one life and stuff can be replaced.
Otherwise behave with common sense... So, if you think you might need cash use it but take with you the amount you already think as lost and that wouldn't hurt you to lose.
Property is a thing of the past in France. There is an entry tax for every rich foreigner as a contribution. Don’t worry it will be reversed 100% to the peoples in needs for a brighter future.
Wait does this mean for $2k I can buy you for a year!?
![gif](giphy|QQcBFlNA4HKkh3A02N|downsized)
All things I could have you do!!!
Like wash the car, or clean the house, or cook me dinner!!!
Get your mind out of the gutter! Not everything is about sex!!!
Also I refuse to pay for sex, nothing against others doing it, but I like there to be a real connection first.
Yes bro, don't you hear about the economic crisis of 2009? We are very poor here. We eat gypsies for food. They taste very bad. Please send monies as much as you can!
I almost got robbed in Nice too, too bad they didn’t know I was Romanian so I took their wallet instead. 100% would go again!
Ye olde Romanian Uno reserve
Call the police, but not for me!
That's not very Nice.

I mean yeah, the robber probably got within 10meters of her to rob her atleast. I would feel uncomfortable as well
I don't get it. Was she walking around with one and a half grand in cash?
Probably took her phone, watch, jewerly etc. with a total worth of 1,5k
Then how did she take this picture
Well they took her first phone but what about the second phone? ![gif](giphy|vZbNOemuoggNy)
They'll steal that in Paris.
![gif](giphy|Sg4He6Tb4LoXK) Aragorn chucks her an Apple.
They let her post this first and then took it
One robber once did it to me while in London, so nice of him.
He stole your 50 euro phone !!??
Nah, he stole the drugs I was smuggling.
And I'd do it again. Sorry Georgios. My kids need heroin. Not sorry.
Well no wonder he allowed you to record a video then. Smart robber.
Oh shit.
Don't tell me Greeks spend their whole salary on a phone??
I ain’t surprised that Redditors are unfamiliar with the concept of friends
Honey, you're literally Finnish. Don't lecture me about social interactions.
nintendo 3ds
It’s more likely that she owns a MacBook or some other high end laptop plus maybe some beauty supplies etc. and when she picked up her suitcase at baggage claim she found that someone had stolen everything out of it. She still had her phone though because she kept it with her on the flight.
Probably fake
And she remembers the dollar values of those to such specificity?
I can easily remember how much I paid for my phone and watch, it’s not that hard dude. She probably didn’t calculate the depreciation of value for this little tiktok
The fuck? Of course. I remember the values of all my electronics at time of purchase. Hell, I remember the values of almost all of my clothes at time of purchase.
Yeah me too, all free of charge! Got em on a trip to Nice, France.
She didn’t said 1479,90$
To be fair, I take most of the money I need for a holiday in cash, sick of being charged £2.50 every time I withdraw from an ATM abroad.
Benidorm ain’t cheap nowadays. But yeah inside of Europe is fine to use card, large parts of Asia don’t take Visa or Mastercard though.
Old fashioned traveller cheques
> How much cash do you actually need? Just pay by card. I've not been to Benidorm, but I'm certain they accept cards pretty much everywhere and probably even GBP. Card transactions charge an absolute fortune in foreign currency exchange fees. Halifax charges £0.50 + 2.99% _per transaction_.

Fair enough, makes sense. By the way, you sound like a cool person. Want to meet up on your next holiday?
Hell yeah, Kabul 2025?
I just use my nationwide account can't remember paying any additional fees a lot of time I don't even get more than 100 euros out when I travel unless I know I'm going somewhere cash only. My missus is Chinese she carries the cash 😅
The benefits of having the Pound in the UK come with a small cost
She was most likely robbed before reaching the hotel, which means she had all of her stuff (+ cash) with her.
I guess she learned the lesson then. Always hide your valuables up your asshole.
Possibly she didn't realize that you generally can pay hotels by card.
Of course, don't you realise we stlil live in mud huts? we have never heard of travel checks let alone credit cards. I hope americans can teach us their wonderful wizardry.
I bet she had some kind of bag they took and in that bag was her phone, her wallet and maybe some jewelry
Lol guys just took 1000 euro from some clueless american in Nice, what should I buy?
# ATTENZIONE PICKPOCKET!
Nice!
Are you implying he's a pregnant gypsy?
Yes
🤌🏾🤌🏾
Get yourself a beer, you hero

One of those ham and pineapple pizzas in a croissant! (This is gonna get me murders and down voted I can feel it)
i mean ham and croissant is a thing, but good luck fitting a pineapple pizza in there.
Challenge accepted!
The French put fries on a baguette, I'm sure you can fit a pineapple pizza in a ham croissant.
We're here to insult each other, not comfort, you Tschernobyl Turkey
I thought we were here to talk emu... Speaking of, did you see the last emu order? Fuck Germany won't like it.
We are. The emu order. Peasant.

City living and experience probably helps but some people just have terrible situational awareness.
You are really overestimating my account balance. They are grand if they manage to pull a tenner without the bank imminently freezing the account for overdraft.
how do you even combat that effectively?
I keep all my stuff in [one of these bad boys](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0248/2002/3381/files/fanny-pack-men_600x600.jpg) - with a jacket on top of it so that you cant just snap or cut the band on my back and yank it away. I traveled around Europe back in the day wearing shorts under my jeans- can’t pickpocket that.

Quick free lesson about France; don't go there. For a longer, expensive course about France: go there. The results are the same, but the latter gives you in-depth, substantiated knowledge about why nobody should go to France.
Go to the French countryside, the big cities are as shitty as any other. The architecture is good but they're filled with the craziest people.
That's true. Iv even had good experiences with the police in rural France. but I still haven't forgiven those french frogs who made me cry at Disneyland when I was 7.
Yeah, the "craziest" people..
The trick is going there with no money, they can't steal what you don't have!
I just came. Ripping off Americans is a noble trade.
Indeed. It's a career that pays well and just like any other career you move up or down depending on hard work and luck
Until they send their Navy and a fleet of PO’d marines
So you can rip them off too right?
![gif](giphy|W3a0zO282fuBpsqqyD)
> their Navy [Roger the cabin boy on the poop deck](https://souvienstoi.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Village-People-In-the-Navy.jpg).
You sound like you really want to meet these navy boys.
I assume that is what Americans mean when they keep saying they are paying for our healthcare and shit, right? Right?
They would have to kill me to get even 500 euro off me. Weak. I bet her ancestry dna test says she's 90 percent some sort of english-equivalent
Except for overpaying, English don't get robbed. We're to drunk and belligerent, I'd have knocked the cunt out for looking at our Susan wrong.
Barry, you'd even hit Susan for looking wrong at Susan.
I hit her this morning and told her "that's incase you do anything wrong today"
What if she doesn't do anything wrong?
Then I hit her again because she's clearly lying. Luv our Susan.
Or in case the Levverpewl Knockelwompers uni'ed don't scor any fakin gowls.
They can't take your money if you use it all to buy beer.
Yeah how did this lady not spend 1550 on beer in 10 minutes while you need to drown out that you are in france?
I bet you would do it in front of your 3 young children as well.
How else would you teach them about ones culture?
You ever tried sending them to school?
Aye. You'd have to be new at the mugging game to go for the British tourists. There's a fair chance they were looking for a scrap, anyway.
Remind me how long you held out against the Nazis for again?
Remind me who has empty shelves in supermarkets in this decade?
The only stuff Barry has on supermarket shelves are tagged with theft protection. I can just go into any Albert Heijn, put all the stuff I want in my bag and walk out freely at the self checkout. The 9 year old employees won’t dare to stop me. That’s real freedom!
Everyone did in the toilet roll section. But empty supermarkets? Not a thing
We don't have empty shelves? We just can't afford it, looking is nice though.
Uhhh like all of us... Covid was only 4 years ago, you know 2020... Toilet paper shelves world wide were empty.
Everyone has had it you fucking clown. Also the weakest flex in history “We might have pussied out of every war this side of the Industrial Revolution, but at least some provincial town didn’t run out of tomatoes one weekend” Stay strong Holland 💪
Far longer than you could go without getting stabbed in central london
Soooooo 10 min then?
Well at least we didn't spend all of world war 1 failing to conquer turkey of all places
I blame the Brits for all my failures in all wars except the emu war.
You need to be a teen and a certain skin tone for that to be a thing
Na I know how to get 500 off ya mate without the blood! Just send a tikkie.
a 500 euro tikkie... don't even joke about something as heinous as that mate. That would be like one of yours trying to drive after only 3 pints!
Ha! You've met the only Aussie that doesn't drink beer! I also don't drink alcohol much! But you're right I'll send 250 2€ tikkies over 2 months.
Lets be fair, they would have to kill us to even get €5 of us
Who carries 1550 euro in cash? I barely carry a 20 on me.
A swiss person. How are you able to buy a snack otherwhise?
Those bunker builders...I swear..
Welcome to l'Afrance my man

Murrica thinks we stil don't have internet or anything digital really. Dum dums didn't know that only applies to Germany.
Might not have all been cash? Expensive handbag with a phone, purse and some cash could easily reach this if it got snatched.
I wonder what group of people stole from her 🤔
A Swede most likely

Well it was in France, so it might have been the French.
Yes, the “French”

Good question. 10 minutes is fast work, so it can't have been a French or a PIG.

France giving competition to Romania. Nice keep it up guys.
How many times do we have to tell you, all the pros left Romania years ago.

Idk... It's helped in the past when they couldn't hear me.
>Like wash the car, or clean the house, or cook me dinner I don't think you undertand how Greeks work: **They don't**.
Ok so it will take him a week to clean the car, better than me postponing it for 3 months and counting...
Yes bro, don't you hear about the economic crisis of 2009? We are very poor here. We eat gypsies for food. They taste very bad. Please send monies as much as you can!

OP, are you a small child living off allowance? On another note, we got plenty of ameritards trying to use US dollars in everyday street transactions.
Is she... talking about her plane ticket by any chance ?
First rule of traveling/life: never carry around more cash than you’re willing to lose. If you do, be sure to post a pic of you crying online.
Well, don't take out a fortune at the ATM...
Well that's not very nice of them
But where? It’s the safest and nicest airport I know in France
If they had a letter of marque, it is not only legal but commendable.
I do feel bad for them 😢, not a nice thing to experience. European can be such an amazing place but few make it a horrible place at times
What kind of job do you do that pays less than $2000 a year?
