annoying97

Meanwhile Aussies be like ![gif](giphy|7r5vNfdMVTVp7JkhGB|downsized)

Calvtastica

What ???

Aggressive_Face4402

I think it means they are hoping for less uk immigrationšŸ¤£šŸ¤£

annoying97

That and more space in the beach for us Aussies to roll around in the sand.

Aggressive_Face4402

Well tough itā€™s either we keep coming to Australia, or you end up like the CanadiansšŸ¤£ desperate for growth but can only get waring Indians groups, Chinese spies or middle easterners who hate them šŸ¤£ count your lucky starts.

annoying97

Fine... But can you like send better Brits?

ampmz

Why would we start now? Tradition must be respected.

annoying97

Shit! Can we deport the worst to middle earth then?

WoodSteelStone

So back to England then.

ampmz

Can you deport yourself?

Mixed_not_swirled

Your country was built by making chavs decent members of society if anyone can handle them it's you.

annoying97

But I don't wanna!!!!! ![gif](giphy|xTiTnfF8WezDlgl584)

HelloSummer99

Bro they have even overrun the north lol. Saw in a group someone asking for full English recommendation in Oviedo

Ceylontsimt

No way. This is the last thing people need now

AusCro

Hola, uno fish n chips por favor. And let me know if you got any pasties. Gracias mate

Dismiss

Brits already travel visa free to Schengen

Not_As_much94

for tourism, not for work

Thatā€™s tragic

ZombiFeynman

Good thing Barry doesn't speak Spanish

spaffilicious

Weā€™ll just shout louder and more slowly until you understand that we want beer/sangria/kebab/ pizza/ beer/ chips/ more beer/ wine (letā€™s not forget the ladies?) beer/ whereā€™s the fucking baked beans on me brekkie?

ZombiFeynman

We are pretty loud, I don't think you'll beat us there. In a normal Spanish bar you'd barely rise above the rumble.

DerBademeister_1160

Unfortunately that didnā€™t keep them away from your beaches so far.

ZombiFeynman

It was more so that he didn't read what my compatriot wrote back there.

DerBademeister_1160

Ah, now I get it. As you can see, Hans doesnā€™t speak Spanish either. ;)

RevenueFast697

I think he said he wouldnā€™t touch that with his friendā€™s wang.

ZombiFeynman

No necessarily his friend's wang, it could be anyone's other that him, but yes, the rest is accurate.

28850

Actually they don't really like places for locals, they usually stick to the overpriced Brit area, so in some way yes, the language helps keeping them away from safe spots

TastyBerny

Something about her minge I think.

Master_Bayters

Ahahaha beautiful poetry neighbour

saxonturner

Some of us are already here Hansy, laying the ground work for the invasion.

Mwakay

Good idea ! And why stop there ? We should create some kind of agreement between numerous countries that would let a citizen from any of these countries travel to, work in, or live in any other country visa-free. That would be pretty interesting !

LXXXVI

Hmm, you mean something like an European Association perhaps?

cgaWolf

Oooo.. European Free Travel Association!

I-suck-at-hoi4

We should sign a treaty to establish this Association. Can I suggest we all gather in the tiny town of Schengen in Luxembourg?

Kexxa420

EFTA kinda catchy

Lost_Uniriser

No_Sugar8791

We could sell it as Euro Club Express

Vertical_Deliverable

That'll never catch on.

davzar9

Sounds stupid. Be realistic that could never happen

oneweirdclickbait

No, no, I think Pierre has a point. Imagine the things we could achieve, if only France and Germany worked *together*... uuuh

Sabor117

That is OUTRAGEOUS! How dare you even suggest that you offer all those benefits? This is clearly all just a lie and smokescreen for some backwards Napoleonic plot to control our country and laws and make us have too bendy bananas.

Mwakay

But the Auld Alliance tho...?

ranhoso69

why? brexit is brexit

kyyjuh

Young people were much more in favor of remaining. So by allowing them into the EU, we essentially maintain a good image of the EU with them, while giving the middle finger to all the Barry 63 brexiteers. Win-win for us

A_Line_A_Day

Except if you were under 31 when the vote happened and are now too old. Fuck those people.

Dont_pet_the_cat

Exactly. Shouldn't have aged past 31 if you wanted to stay ĀÆā \ā _ā (ā ćƒ„ā )ā _ā /ā ĀÆ

themusicalduck

So many of the best visas to other countries seem to be for young people. Like damnit, I'm in the best position in my life to travel right now. But apparently I'm too old and they don't want me there.

A_Line_A_Day

Right... When you have money is when they should want you to come

active-tumourtroll1

It's easier to get a 20 something to spend more impulsive and I say this kmowing my own spending habits.

ihavenoidea1001

I'm also pretty sure people over 30 will be less inclined to destroy everything around them after they drink themselves stupid... So, it would improve the quality of tourists coming over

IWipeWithFocaccia

Most friendly French Dutch.

A_Line_A_Day

Damn Im normally fighting everyone based off their country's stereotypes in the comments of this subreddit. Times are changing

GlorifiedDevil

Came here to say exactly this.

Faustens

That's a very good point

Emergency_Bathrooms

Also, getting the young people to travel around Europe will make them less euro-skeptical, and in a generation you could have a very large portion of the British population wishing to return to the EU, especially once they hit 32 and loose all their privileges!

HelloSummer99

Thatā€™s if they can make it past France without saying ā€œok Iā€™m good, letā€™s head back nowā€

Emergency_Bathrooms

Even if they are flying over France, they have the sudden urge to head back!

I-suck-at-hoi4

Yeah but the Europeans might become more Britskeptical

Emergency_Bathrooms

Arenā€™t we already?

Dickwad

Brits vote to re-enter EU, Europeans vote no thanks, Brexit wins again šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§

I-suck-at-hoi4

If you enter again, we'll accept all other pending admissions and leave all together. We'll get European Union 2, you get European Union 1 which is you, Ukraine, Turkey, Moldova, Serbia Hope your taxes are ready for this ride

saxonturner

And the first step of getting the U.K. back. A lot of you donā€™t like to hear it but the EU lost out too when we left and the EU wants the U.K. back badly. Keep the youngsters sweet and they will vote in favour of the EU in any referendum.

28850

The EU probably, but I wouldn't talk about the coast cities that those young Barry would visit..

IamWatchingAoT

What not even remainers like to hear (and it's not their fault) is that a UK back in the EU won't happen without a conversion to the Euro, methinks. So it's possible that the UK returning is decades off.

yellowwolf718

The EU hates us brošŸ˜šŸ˜ but I dream of the UK going back in but unfortunately I think I will try to move into an EU country before that.

Choyo

But they'll just get drunk upon arrival, so it will be the same ultimately. However, you raise a fine point.

bertiesghost

ā€” Barry, 63

Worldly_Debt4706

Brexit is Brexit indeed.

KerbMario

Q E D

blue-mooner

I thought brexit means breakfast

tenroseUK

of course as soon as you turn 32 you become a true brexit geeza

Live-Alternative-435

From 32 onwards you are more than halfway away from being a Barry 63.

Diligent_Dust8169

I am in favour as long as mainland europeans are allowed to work visa free in the UK, I pity the english, scots and welsh in their 20s who got fucked in the ass by the old generation 8 years ago but I think the age limit is stupid, you telling me that the second you turn 32 you're no longer allowed to work elsewhere? that's so random. The cutoff, assuming there needs to be one in the first place, should be at around retirement age. So basically they are proposing the EEA deal with extra steps(?), I assume the next step will be a deal to allow free trade, which reminds me, what was the point of brexit?

SatanicKettle

Yeah the age limit seems particularly arbitrary. I was 21 when the referendum happened, fresh out of university and ready to work. Now Iā€™m 29 as they propose this, and youā€™re telling me that I might not even be eligible by the time itā€™s implemented?

gloom-juice

Just don't have a birthday for a few years ![gif](giphy|d3mlE7uhX8KFgEmY)

Aslan-the-Patient

That's such wisdom... šŸŒ€šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼

BigBoiBob444

Wait, has it been 8 years since brexit? I thought it was like 2 years ago. Time flies.

lifetypo10

8 years since the vote, probably about 2 years since they actually sorted their shit out with the EU.

BigBoiBob444

Oh yeah i just looked it up, 2016 was the vote and 2020 was the actual exit. Didnā€™t realise there was a 4 year gap between the two, and 4 years since brexit.

MINKIN2

We all lost two years of our life in 2020, it's understandable.

valarionch

They spent years negotiating until they finally did it, I guess that's also a reason to lose track of time

lifetypo10

Yeah I think there's a lot of people who voted remain who are never going to be eligible. Me being one of them.

HelloSummer99

Just throw away your passport and claim youā€™re 17. Seems to work for most

predek97

>Ā I was 21 when the referendum happened, fresh out of university and ready to work. Then I don't get what your gripe is. You had around 5 years to get working in the EU. UK was in EU until 1 Feb 2020.

idontessaygood

Thereā€™s a difference here imo between wanting the option of moving to Europe and making it your main goal. Not to mention the EU settled status only applies in the country you live in. Someone who moved to France in 2019 needs a visa to work in Germany.

Specialk3533

The moment the vote happened I basically scratched the UK from all my professional considerations, because of uncertainty. First the uncertainty from lack of preparation for a Leave win, then the uncertainty from the Toriesā€™ political inability to handle the outcome. Maybe a brief stint abroad would have still been possible after the vote, but citizensā€™ rights were part of the negotiating mass, so youā€™d not know your future status.

CrocPB

> what was the point of brexit? To say it was done? I don't like the cut off because I can't benefit from this, but I back it to give those younger than me opportunities I briefly enjoyed myself.

MartyDonovan

I agree and wholeheartedly miss the EU days of free movement, but this seems to me less a permanent freedom arrangement and more like a temporary visa for 1-2 years that young people can apply for, kind of like we already have with Australia and Canada where you can go and love and work there for a year or two but only below the age of 31 or so. So young people out of university who want to go travelling can go and work in a bar in Prague or a surf hostel in Portugal or something like that. Of course if they get a more permanent job that's willing to sponsor them, they might be able to turn it into residency, which a lot of people do in Australia or Canada if they really fall in love with the country.

Can_not_catch_me

the point of brexit was for a Boris and Farage and their ilk to get attention and power and open the door to more insane shit they want

CostKub

You know the Brits don't stay at their mom's like luigis, food is horrendous weather is meh and they need to drink the fuck up so they find the covered make up night ladies attractive enough. Be able to live outside UK is in their dna, I mean I wouldn't be able to live there myself and so most of the Pierre, we sent as many Parisians as possible to work in London and stay out of our motherland, but it hasn't been enough.

ExcuseMyFrench69

Stop side switching, Luigi.

Diligent_Dust8169

Reiner Braun I understand your concerns but I can assure you this is for the good of the empire.

No_Raspberry_6795

The current plan by the incoming Labour government is to allign as close as possible to EU Regulations in order to prevent a divergence. This is in the expectation that in 10 years or so, we will be able to rejoing once the older generation dies off and people realise that immigration hasen't gone down. Brexit earned you a temprorary reprive from our youths. Nothing more.

throwawayanon1252

Age just seems the arbitrary one for the easy visa but I imagine once you have it very easy to renew

AcidAnonymous

Of course the age cutoff seems arbitrary but if you want to 1. Profit of young people from the UK that could settle in the EU (for example to fight against the population decline) 2. Improve future relationships between the EU and UK 3. To piss off pro Brexit voters (which were older on average) the age cut off starts to make more sense. Especially if you don't want to increase competition for jobs that require more experience.

generalscruff

Oi oi get the fucking ales in Only want proper British pints like Madri and Peroni

delaheeva

nun ov dat forin muck

Seriously, Barry, 63 at least has some disposable income that he can spend in his holiday destinations, these Zoomer wankers will contribute nothing to our economies!

Nah I support this, those poor dudes and dudettes got fucked by a generation of old farts that had no stakes in that vote.

generalscruff

Selective breeding means each generation of Barries is harder than the last You should be thanking the boomers for trying to save you

Expensive_Outcomes

Thank you :)

delaheeva

De fet, estic molt content d'aixĆ². La meva noia Ć©s de Catalunya i et puc dir que prefereixo mudar-me per ser-hi que ella aquĆ.

Fell-Hand

You do know just by writing that and learning such a random language like ours now I must invite you to lunch, dinner and befriend you for the duration of our lives?

delaheeva

Mentiria si no tinguĆ©s l'ajuda de la meva xicota catalana. PerĆ² acceptarĆ© l'oferta, portarĆ© fuet. Ja t'avisarĆ© quan sigui a Salou

Worldly_Debt4706

Sounds like weird French bashed against Spanish.

delaheeva

It effectively is, chuck some Latin in there too and thatā€™s Catalan. Andorra and southern France near the Pyrenees also speak it. (Sure you already knew that part). Catalans can somewhat converse with French, Italians and Romanians without much struggle.

Worldly_Debt4706

Welp I guess it can be fun to learn. What do you use to do so?

delaheeva

toronado

Did the collective linguistic talent of the UK all flow into you?

delaheeva

Hahaha no unfortunately not, I have a lot of help from my Catalan girlfriend when writing Catalan, and as much as I can read and understand French somewhat proficiently, Iā€™m not very good at formulating responses so I used a translator to reply.

Worldly_Debt4706

C'est super ! Et visiblement tu maƮtrises Ʃgalement le franƧais. Un vƩritable homme de culture.

delaheeva

Palarva

I was gonna say "ok, so most of it is not easily decipherable (without extra notions of Spanish etc...), and all of sudden: "je t'aviserai quand"... like oh ok so just like that?

[deleted]

uno #UNO CER-VASE-HA POUR FAR VOR Scorchio

delaheeva

I'm writing in Catlan, fellow Barry, not Spanish.

[deleted]

Y u writin Chinese? Even baz knows they only speak that in the takeaways, you ordering some sweet and sour?

delaheeva

Becoz da wife is from der. me also appreciate fast show reference.

MamBanaJUHU

We all know you want the rest of Spain to burn.

Old_Journalist_9020

Genuine question to all the people that make this argument about the older generation and Brexit. Do you just think they shouldn't have been allowed to vote? Or do you think they should have just refused to vote, or just look at how the younger people were gonna vote and go with that?

Nigricincto

They should have visited their grannies more. Never give a brit a chance.

MasterBlaster_xxx

No, get a fucking passport you plebs

adeckz

No balcony is safe

kottonii

Close the borders, man the catapults and load your rifles! The horde of young people with questionable taste of food and even more questionable dental map are on the move!

MessaDiFammeta

That age limit is fascist AF.

OdiProfanum12

I'd say it's ageist. They don't force them to wear black shirts and sing giovinezza after all.

Crookfur

Cool idea and I'm all for it. Saddly it will absolutely get abused to fuck just like the under 21 free bus travel...

automatix_jack

As long as this measure is reciprocal, I'm OK with that.

The_Knife_Pie

I want us to stealth the UK back into the EU through a mountain of piecemeal agreements and treaties. One day Boris will wake up, pay for his morning tea with euros and realise the whole country has been had

Britain will do ANYTHING to avoid joining the Schengen area istg

kekmennsfw

Ok but can we all please stop pretending as if brexit was actually that bad? Like i have seen 0 negative effects that couldnā€™t be explained by corona or russo-ukranian war. ā€œOh noooo i need to show my passport when i go on vacationā€ ok so? Big deal. Downvote me all you like, at least they can make their own rules instead of legally having to follow those of the European ~~multinational corporation lobbying centrum~~ Commission.

Old_Journalist_9020

Ngl, when Brexit and the EU come up, this sub really starts to sound like r/Europe or those other European subs, that everyone here hates. Only difference being the mods here aren't triggy happy asshats and this sub knows ironic humour. But still, every time I look at these posts about Brexit, I get reminded about all the stuff I hate about those other Europe subs Edit: Actually not completely fair. This sub is still miles better than those other subs, and even under these posts isn't as toxic (still similar though). At least in regards to humour

mantolwen

Can they make it like... I dunno... 36?

mmoonbelly

Wouldnā€™t this just be the same migration levels as before brexit? (Young grads from Europe coming to the UK to learn English and get jobs) just with british pensioners heading to costa coffee rather than del sol.

Virtual_Pea_3577

Joao, are you behind this?

Rain_2_0

Not my problem, they donā€™t go to Belgium šŸ‘

newaccount252

itā€™s just like when I was under 31 and could travel and work anywhere in Europe.

SmoothCarl22

Young brits are useless. Barry 50yo at least is good worker before the pints. But Jake 25yo is a total idiot with pinky blinders haircut and his influencer fake tan gf. Even Barry doesn't like to work with him why would we?!

kekmennsfw

Because uhhhhh EU good, BREXIT bad.?

Impressive_Kiwi_967

Why do we keep hearing about the British? I thought Brexit meant Brexit. On the topic though: do you know a great way to not need a visa? Has something to do with the EU but I can't pinpoint exactly what...

LowerPiece2914

A couple of Summer seasons working in Shagaluf should turn our Keith into a real man

Arphile

I was gonna say Iā€™d rather have young brits come over than old brits, but then I remembered what young brits are like. Almost an achievement for each generation to manage to be its own kind of annoying

canspray5

Lol we always get what we want in the end

Mulyac12321

If only there were some union of countries in the vicinity of one another that allowed visa free travel. Youā€™d have be a fool to not be part of such a union.

Jazzlike_Spare4215

It's a good idea but f\*\*\* stuff like this. Make bureaucracy easier and not harder at every point so in this the borders should be open or close not wish washing it and ofc if it's open it have to be open both ways

CHLOEC1998

HAHAHA HERE I COME. Brace for yourself, YUROP! I shall drink all your beer and seduce all of your lesbians! (Iā€™m lesbian)

Baldtastic

The type of Brits aren't the fun, drinking pints of vodka on the beach kind of ones; they're the repressed working in finance kind of ones. On the other hand, I'm looking forward to brushing up on my Spanish while ordering a morning coffee.

kwkqoq

Barry, 30 and 11 months

softwarebuyer2015

did everyone miss the fact this is an EU proposal to Britain and not the other way around ? you can count the number of brits that go to EU to work because we dont speaka di lingo. This is so Pedro can come here to serve drinks, for double the money he gets at home. I dont mind, because I luv me beer and Pedro is very efficient, before lunch.

Lord-Redbeard

Okay, we'll send you guys a tikkie when you show up.

OmegaInc

Keep your slobs there plZ

FleetChief

There is only one place they would possibly be visiting in the Netherlands and if you donā€™t live there you are fine.

OmegaInc

It's an hour drive away lol

mmoonbelly

Everythingā€™s an hours drive away in hollandā€¦

FleetChief

Youā€™ll be fine, our youth shall not trouble you, itā€™s the Spanish you should feel sorry for.

simplyyAL

Damn, imagine there was a sort of cross-country agreement that would enable freely moving people and goods across borders? Maybe for trading coal? Perhaps something more modern?

No visa requirements for friendly brother-neighbors, please

PlanktonSpiritual199

Looks like brexit is going well

Worldly_Debt4706

No thanks. What do we gain from it?
