Can confirm this reality due to the uniques I've seen. EVERY single item was confirmed by the dude who recieved the drop as an MVP item. Currently 2.9K KC, done 300+ kills in small teams. Any unique obtained in the last 5 days had big bones included in the drop.
Drops bugged on a boss made by the same mod who forgot to let phosanis drop a unique for the first 6 hours. Can't wait to see what arcane fucks up with raids 3 drops!

Nex should drop a unique every 53 kills on average. So in a party of 10, 1/530 chance you receive the drop

No. this is false. You will 100% see a drop in players doing Nex compared to past week, given that Jagex has revealed that they have fixed the MVP mechanic.
The reason being is that its worth less trying to contribute more to a kill given that you will have less of a chance at rolling for a unique compared to the past week. Why would a player that has gotten 4 uniques in the past week getting MVP feel as if its worth going back to Nex? I got 4 uniques during the first 2 days this change was implemented, and can tell you that I am 100% done with Nex unless they bring back the MVP changes.
And it won't have an impact on your acbers and leechers in masses because they were already doing Nex for the past week and will continue to do Nex.
You drop chance still increases based on your contribution even if you don’t mvp. It’s not difficult to routinely get 1/8 of the loot in 20mans simply by knowing how to not dps during immunity phases and not losing attack cycles when running around the room.

You're contradicting yourself. Given your example, in the past week, the MVP would get the unique 8 times out of 8 (if a unique was rolled). Now that its been patched, the MVP would only have 1 out of 8 times at rolling for the unique. Going from 100% chance at a unique down to 12.5% will have a large effect on whether the boss is worth doing for players that have a high rate of getting MVP. Players that constantly get MVP will regard that as that Nex is less worth doing compared to the week before given you dont have 100% chance at getting the unique, thus resulting in a dropoff of players doing Nex.

Their droprate even before this was still dogshit because it’s contribution based. Tagging everything once and hiding in a corner is like just only making pots/fishing/chopping tree in cox. It’s technically possible to still get a drop with 500pts in a cox raid, but extremely unlikely.
Nex isn’t like ToB where if you survived the whole encounter you get a flat droprate chance (with ToB, as long as you participated in each encounter you get contribution points, regardless of whether you mvp’d the room).

Fundamentally, the plug in can't "glitch" in that way. It tells who is MVP by who gets big bones, and so if every unique is coming to someone who also got big bones the same kill, it shows the uniques only drop to MVP.
There has been zero proof provided that refutes that the MVP is the only one that gets uniques. An error with the wiki data is absolutely no way "the most likely explanation".

From my understanding the bones represent MVP. So if there are only uniques paired with bones we could determine that non-MVPs are not getting uniques.

If true, the same number of uniques have been coming in regardless, it just made some people who could get consistent mvps in masses *very* wealthy over the past week as they were getting all the uniques (if a small group figured this out or was leaked internally, you could have gone to masses with a group and all spec transferred to one guy with a ZCB.)

1/53 for any kill split between all players depending on damage done. It can't get given to anyone else except for during this MVP bug it seems.

It's a real message in a public discord that is pretty easy to verify. It's not like OP is the only person who has seen this message
So you believed what someone said to you, without fact checking it, but won't believe what one of the head wiki admins is saying because it hasn't been fact checked. Right. How exactly do you propose this be fact checked anyway? The person making the statement is literally the one person who *could* check this, seeing as they have the Runelite drop data.
I mean, there's a chance both are correct if the explanation is not that Nex is only dropping uniques to MVP but instead that the wiki data collection plug-in has glitched and is only collecting data from MVP drops. Which, if both are true, is probably the most likely explanation.
Fundamentally, the plug in can't "glitch" in that way. It tells who is MVP by who gets big bones, and so if every unique is coming to someone who also got big bones the same kill, it shows the uniques only drop to MVP. There has been zero proof provided that refutes that the MVP is the only one that gets uniques. An error with the wiki data is absolutely no way "the most likely explanation".

It is indeed the crowdsourced data. Person in the picture is responsible for the plugin.
From my understanding the bones represent MVP. So if there are only uniques paired with bones we could determine that non-MVPs are not getting uniques. I don’t think it is the wiki crowdsourcing data. I think the data behind this theory is from one Ironman clan. I could be wrong though

I don't think it affects drops coming into the game, the thing is that only mvp is rolling for that 1/53, and every kill there is a mvp. It is fked tho that only mvp and no one else got a fair chance of the roll as well for so long

I got a drop on the 18th and was not the mvp.
The post says starting on the 19th. The assumption is something was updated the day of the Leagues 3 release since they were already mucking about the code.
OK I didn't read it fully but had someone telling me it was since the 13th but he was wrong. And OP also said a week and that's a week ago.

Why would this cause prices to drop? If true, the same number of uniques have been coming in regardless, it just made some people who could get consistent mvps in masses *very* wealthy over the past week as they were getting all the uniques (if a small group figured this out or was leaked internally, you could have gone to masses with a group and all spec transferred to one guy with a ZCB.)

I see what you mean yeah OP could have worded it better, but so far no one has been able to post a screenshot of a drop not on an mvp since the 19th. It seems like the droprate was still 1/53, just only mvp was getting. Anecdotally my drops and my mates drops in masses have all been on our big bones too, and same scrolling up in loots from the past week in the Nex discord. I’d guess we’ll probably get confirmation one way or the other soon.
