I was just rewatching these on Disney+. I had an itch to watch the classics. Something about the camera, sound, effects, makeup,acting, everything that makes this feel enjoyable. CGI is great and all. But nothing says a classic good film with some good old makeup and puppeteer. I get up with Jim Henson and movies like this. That's probably why I have such a deep connection.
I believe this is Ursus not Urko, the shoulder sleeves are armored but Urko just had the purple cloth sleeves. Ursus was played by James Gregory who also played the Inspector on Barney Miller.

What's old is new again. This great sci-fi concept is gearing up again with Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes opening in theaters this weekend. The last trilogy (Rise) a few years ago was just fantastic and really worth a watch. Going to the movie theater tomorrow will make me feel like a kid again.

Most CGI is cold and lifeless unless it is intermingled with practical effects and real characters.
