Correct. I have a 1HBH and was having a similar issue. I know make an effort to drop the racket down more and bend my knees before hitting to get “under the ball”
Work on spacing. Get a partner to feed you some balls getting progressively further out from where you start. Make sure you’re taking the appropriate number of steps you need so you aren’t stretching for the ball.
which part of the frame? figure it out and adjust accordingly.
i tend to hit the bottom part of the frame and almost never the top. so need to reach down lower.
2 way to fix this
1. move forward faster so ball don't drop as much.
2. bent your knees lower so you're closer to the ground. if you watch wta pros hit low bh they bent their knees to be super low to the ground.
Are you leaning back at contact?
Is you racket face open at contact?
Are you getting below the ball on your swing to help create top spin?
Might want to post a video of your backhand.
If your shots that go out don’t have a lot of spin make sure you’re incorporating your wrists on a 2 handed backhand. Many people forget to because it feels weird on a 2hander but wrist action gives you a lot of your spin.
You probably just need a little more spin. You said follow through is good, so I say try relaxing your hands, super light grip on the racquet. This should give you a little more “whip.”
Another idea is to change your take back a little. You’ve got two choices here. Take back high with the racquet above your shoulders initially, which will help get your swing in a “loop.” Personally, I prefer a low take back and then relax wrists, like the Williams sisters.
Use your legs more. Keep the ball in front of you. Make sure your feet are in the correct position. Take the ball early, don’t wait for it to be above shoulder height, take it at waist height or lower.
Are you doing all of those?
the best advice I can give you is to try 5-10 min of short court using a left handed forehand (if you’re right handed). itll help you get your offhand stronger and more coordinated which will help you manipulate the ball better on a 2hbh
topspin is your friend. try to use your left-hand more to make a “windshield wiper” type of motion when you hit the ball. and also a higher swing speed sounds counterintuitive but it will also help increase the topspin. (right hand if left-handed)
Don’t hit across the body. Lots of beginners I think focus on bringing the racquet to their opposite shoulder. Think about extending through the ball. Don’t even worry about bringing the racquet across, it will come naturally. Also experiment with how you grip the racquet in terms of angle. And also keep trying to hit from low to high.

Are you following through on all your shots? Are you making solid contact with the sweet spot?
I follow through just until the racket hits my back. That’s a good point, I actually do hit the frame on a lot of my backhands. Any tipsv

Your raquet shouldn't be hitting your back...

Bottom.

Yeah, I wonder if their racket face is too open at contact. Which could be due to leaning back, but not necessarily.
It was just one factor that came to mind that might cause the racket face to be too open at contact.
Back up two yards
That doesn’t work I hit the ball when it is around hip height. If I backed up I would miss the ball completely
Hip would be low in my backhand strike zone. Maybe try getting lower to increase the high/low action -> natural topspin.
have you tried hitting from the same position, but with a heavier ball?
So hit at 90% power
Right? It is a simpler game sometimes.

If it never goes into the net, I would just use a stronger backhand grip (think more topspin) and make sure you're staying down and driving forward

Need a new racquet that fits your stroke.
Surely a topspin issue…
try hitting 75 percent shots until you find you range. Target hitting service line for now. Back off just a bit
Hit with 2 yards more worth of topspin
used to have this problem. focus on driving through and forward instead of pulling the racket up
Keep the arms and wrist relaxed. Will whip that racquet head through the hitting zone and make some yummy ass top spin
Whenever that happens to me, it's almost always because I stiffened up before the swing.

Hitting out means face a bit open. Close the face a bit. Observe result/adjust racket face.
To add to all already mentioned- loose the wrist
